Ponmudi takes oath as Minister
- The Madras High Court had ordered a 3-year jail term and a fine of Rs 50 lakh on ex-minister Ponmudi in the asset hoarding case. After this, he lost his ministerial position. Against this, Ponmudi appealed to the Supreme Court. In this case, the Supreme Court stayed the sentence and fine imposed by the High Court.
- Subsequently, his disqualification was revoked and he became Thirukovilur MLA again. became Following this, the Chief Minister suggested to the Governor to administer the oath of office to him again as a minister. But Governor RN Ravi denied it.
- An appeal was filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu against this decision of the Governor. The case came up for hearing yesterday before the bench headed by Chief Justice Chandrachud.
- At that time, the Chief Justice raised a barrage of questions regarding the activities of the Governor of Tamil Nadu and condemned the Governor for violating the order of the Supreme Court.

After a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court suspended the order convicting Ponmudi, the Governor cannot lecture us that he is guilty. Chief Justice Chandrachud boldly said that we are imposing a deadline for the Governor throughout the night.
- Following the Supreme Court's order, Governor RN Ravi, who held a consultation with legal experts yesterday evening, invited Ponmudi to resume office as a minister. Following this, Governor RN Ravi administered the oath of office to Ponmudi in the presence of Chief Minister M.K.Stal today (22.03.2024) at 3.30 pm at the Governor's House in Guindy, Chennai. Ponmudi, who has assumed the post of minister, has been allotted the higher education department.
- Also, the Khadar and Village Industries Board, which was looked after by Minister Gandhi, has again been allocated to Minister Rajakannappan.
