Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras resigns
  • In the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Party 2024 did not give a single seat to Bihar's Rashtriya Lok Janashakti Party. So party leader and Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras, brother of former Union Minister late Ramvilas Paswan, resigned from his ministerial post yesterday. 
  • In this case, as Pashupati Kumar Paras resigned from the post of Union Minister, President Drabupati Murmu accepted his resignation. Therefore, Kiran Rijiju, who is currently a cabinet minister, was assigned the additional responsibility of food processing industry minister.

Mineral production of the country in January 2024 - 5.9% growth
  • Mineral Production Index for January 2024 (Base: 2011-12=100) stands at 144.1. This is an increase of 5.9% compared to January 2023. According to provisional data from the Indian Bureau of Mines, the overall growth for the period April-January, 2023-24 was 8.3% percent over the corresponding period of the previous year.
  • Production volume of important minerals in January 2024: Coal 998 lakh tonnes, Brown coal 41 lakh tonnes, Natural gas (used) 3073 million cubic meters, Petroleum (crude) 25 lakh tonnes, Bauxite 2426 thousand tonnes, Chromite 251 thousand tonnes, Copper 12.6 thousand tonnes , gold 134 kg, iron ore 252 lakh tons, manganese ore 304 thousand tons, zinc 152 thousand tons, limestone 394 lakh tons, phosphorite 109 thousand tons, magnesite 13 thousand tons.
  • Important minerals showing positive growth in January 2024 over January 2023 are: Magnesite (90.1%), Coal (10.3%), Limestone (10%), Bauxite (9.8%), Manganese Ore (7.8%), Natural Gas ( U) (5.5%), iron ore (4.3%), brown coal (3.6%), zinc. (1.3%), and petroleum (crude) (0.7%). Other major minerals showing negative growth include gold (-23.4%), chromite (-35.2%) and phosphorite (-44.4%).
MoU between Indian Agricultural Research Council, Tanuka Institute of Agricultural Technology
  • Indian Agricultural Research Organization and Tanuka Institute of Agricultural Technology have signed an MoU. Dr. U.S., Deputy Director General, Indian Agricultural Research Council. Gautham, Chairman of Tanuka Agricultural Technology Institute, Dr. R.G. Agarwal signed this MoU.
  • The aim of the agreement is to leverage the capabilities of both companies to provide new technology to farmers.
