Lamitiye Exercise 2024 is a joint military exercise
- An Indian Army contingent today left for Seychelles to participate in the tenth edition of "Lamitiye-2024", a joint military exercise between the Indian Army and the Seychelles Defense Forces (SDF). The joint exercise will be held in Seychelles from 18 to 27 March 2024.
- 'Lamitiye', which means 'friendship' in Creole, is a biennial training event that has been held in Seychelles since 2001. 45 soldiers each from the Gorkha Rifles unit of the Indian Army and the Seychelles Defense Forces will take part in the exercise.
- The objective of the exercise is to enhance interoperability in conventional operations in sub-urban environments under Chapter Seven of the United Nations Charter on Peacekeeping Operations.
- UN On Friday, a draft resolution against Pakistan was brought in the General Assembly under the name of 'Measures against hatred against Muslims'.
- The resolution condemned discrimination, enmity, hatred and incitement of violence against Muslims and other acts of religious intolerance against them. UN to appoint special envoy to combat hatred of Muslims A request was made to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in that resolution.
- Following this, 115 countries voted in favor of the resolution. No country voted against the resolution. 44 countries including India, Britain, Brazil, Germany, Italy and Ukraine abstained from voting on the resolution.
