Prime Minister Modi inaugurated projects worth Rs 17,300 crore in Tuticorin
- Prime Minister Modi is in Tamil Nadu on a two-day visit to participate in various programs and lay foundation stones for many projects. On the second day today in Tuticorin Rs. Prime Minister Modi today laid the foundation stone and launched infrastructure development projects worth Rs 17,300 crore.
- V.U.Chitambaranar laid the foundation stone for a cargo terminal at Thoothukudi port.V.U.Chitambaranar inaugurated various infrastructural projects such as sea water desalination plant, hydrogen production center to be built to make the port the country's first green hydrogen port.
- He inaugurated India's first fully indigenously manufactured green hydrogen fueled inland waterway vessel. He dedicated to the nation the twin railway projects including Vanchi Maniachi-Nagkoil railway line, Vanchi Maniachi-Tirunelveli section and Melapalayam-Aralvaimozhi section.
- This double track project, developed at a cost of around Rs 1,477 crore, will help reduce the travel time of train passengers from Kanyakumari, Nagarkot and Nellai to Chennai.
- Prime Minister Modi inaugurated 4 road projects and dedicated them to the country. These projects are four-laning of National Highway 844 between Jithandahalli-Dharumapuri, two-laning of National Highway 81 between Meensuruti-Chidambaram, four-laning of National Highway 83 between Othanchatram and Madathikulam, and two-laning of National Highway 83 between Nagapattinam and Thanjavur. It has been implemented at a cost of around Rs.4,586 crore.
- Prime Minister Modi also dedicated the newly established tourism facilities at 75 lighthouses in 10 states/union territories to the nation.
- Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, L. Murugan, Tamil Nadu Public Works Minister AV Velu, Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi participated in this programme. The Prime Minister started his address by saying hello to the program.
- Due to ISRO's rapid growth, it was planned to set up a third launch pad in addition to the existing 2 rocket launch pads at Srihari Kota. Accordingly, Kulasekaranpatnam, Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu was selected after various rounds of checks by the authorities.
- The central government was taking steps to set up a rocket launch pad in an area of about 3,500 acres in Kulasekaranpattinam area. The acquisition of 2,233 acres of land in several villages including Amalapuram, Elluvilai, Goodal Nagar, Alagappapuram, etc. has been done in the last 5 years. Also, the Tamil Nadu government is going to set up a space park with an area of 2000 square meters in the area, Kulasekharapatnam.

- Former judges Lingappa Narayana Swamy, Sanjay Yadav and Ritu Raj Awasthi have been appointed as members from the judiciary. Sushil Chandra (former Chief Election Commissioner), Pankaj Kumar and Ajay Tirke have been appointed as non-judicial members in that body.
