Chief Minister Stalin inaugurated the Jallikattu Stadium
- Chief Minister M.K.Stalin inaugurated the Jallikattu ground at a cost of 62.78 crores at Geezakarai near Alankanallur in Madurai district. Following this, the jallikattu competition started at 11.10 am. First the temple bulls were untied.
- Then the bulls are unleashed at the gate based on the online token number sequence. Chief Minister Stalin enjoyed the match for a few minutes and left. 500 bulls and 200 cowherd players are competing for the field. To start the match. The bulls and the players were given a medical check-up beforehand and were allowed inside the jallikattu field.
- In this competition, the best bull and the best cowherd player will be awarded 1 Mahendra Thar Jeep car and 1 lakh rupees in cash each by the Tamil Nadu government. The 2nd prize winning bull and player will be awarded a bike of Rs 50,000 cash each.
- The Central Board of Direct Taxes publishes important statistics related to collection and administration of direct taxes from time to time on the public platform. In continuation of its efforts to make more information available in the public domain, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has released data up to the financial year 2022-23 with consolidated historical comparisons.
- Net direct tax collection increased by 160.52% from Rs 6,38,596 crore in FY 2013-14 to Rs 16,63,686 crore in FY 2022-23. The total direct tax collection of Rs.19,72,248 crore in FY 2022-23 is an increase of 173.31% compared to the total direct tax collection of Rs.7,21,604 crore in FY 2013-14.
- The ratio of direct tax to GDP was 5.62% in FY 2013-14 and increased to 6.11% in FY 2022-23. The collection expenditure has come down to 0.51% of total collection in 2022-23 from 0.57% of total collection in FY 2013-14.
- The total number of income tax returns filed in the financial year 2022-23 is 7.78 crore, which is an increase of 104.91% compared to the total number of income tax returns filed in the financial year 2013-14 of 3.80 crore.
- The Indian Air Force, the French Air Force and the United Arab Emirates Air Force jointly conducted the 'Desert Night' air combat exercise on January 23 and 24, 2024. Aircraft including Sukhoi-30 MKI, MiG-29, Jaguar, Awax and C-130-J participated in the exercise on behalf of the Indian Air Force.
- A Rafale fighter jet and a multi-role tanker participated on behalf of France. On behalf of the United Arab Emirates Air Force, an F-16 aircraft participated in this. The joint air force exercise was held at the Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates.
- The main objective of this 'Desert Night' air force exercise is to enhance cooperation between the air forces of the three countries. Discussions between the exercises facilitated the exchange of operational knowledge, experiences and best practices. Such exercises will showcase the strength of the Indian Air Force and help improve military ties with various countries in the region.
- The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the proposal to sign a protocol for the formation of a Joint Economic and Trade Committee between the Department of Commerce of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic.
- Bilateral relations between India and the Dominican Republic are cordial and continue to deepen in all fields. Currently, there is no bilateral agency procedure in trade and commerce between India and the Dominican Republic.
- India primarily imports gold from the Dominican Republic and exports pharmaceuticals, marine products, motor vehicles, two and three wheelers to the country.
- Economic relations between India and the Dominican Republic will be strengthened by setting up a Joint Economic and Trade Group. The establishment of a Joint Economic and Trade Committee will help mitigate challenges in the export of Indian goods through mutual negotiations.
- This will lead to increased exports of pharmaceuticals, vehicles and engineering products manufactured in India, which will lead to higher foreign exchange earnings for a self-reliant India.
