Gallo India and Swayam join hands to enhance support for Para athletes at Gallo India Para Games 2023
- Gallo India, a flagship program of the Ministry of Youth Welfare and Sports, and Swayam, India's pioneering accessibility organization, have joined hands to ensure accessibility to transport and infrastructure in New Delhi during the Gallo India Para Games.
- More than 1400 para-athletes were provided with accessible transport services. More than 300 volunteers and officials associated with the Games were sensitized at the start of this 8-day event.
- The Central Government introduced the Post Office Bill to replace the 125-year-old Indian Post Office Act.
- According to this bill, the central government can authorize any officer to intercept, open or stop the letter, material etc. sent through the post office, considering the security of the country, friendly relations with foreign countries, emergency, public safety, violation of law.
- This bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha on 4th Dec. Along with this, a debate was held in the Lok Sabha on Monday about the bill. The bill was passed after a brief debate between the opposition MPs on the issue of parliamentary security.
- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lauded India's economic resilience and growth amid global challenges. India is emerging as a star performer, contributing more than 16 per cent to global growth, the fund said in its annual report. It said India is one of the fastest growing major economies in the world this year, guided by prudent macroeconomic policies.
