• டால்பின்கள் பாதுகாப்பு திட்டம் / DOLPHIN PROTECTION SCHEME: சுற்றுச்சூழல், காலநிலை மாற்றம் மற்றும் வனத்துறை தரப்பில் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ள அறிக்கையில் கூறியிருப்பதாவது: தமிழ்நாட்டில் கடல்வாழ் உயிரினங்களில் 9-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட டால்பின் வகைகள் காணப்படுகின்றன. 
• அதன்படி, மன்னார் வளைகுடா உயிர்க்கோள காப்பகத்தில் இவற்றின் முக்கிய வாழ்விடங்கள் உள்ளன. கடந்தாண்டு மன்னார் வளைகுடா உயிர்க்கோள காப்பகத்தில் 7 டால்பின்கள் வெற்றிகரமாக மீட்கப்பட்டு கடலில் மீள விடப்பட்டன. 
• மன்னார் வளைகுடா உயிர்க்கோள காப்பகம் என்பது கடல் பாலூட்டிகளான கடல் பசு போன்றவை உட்பட வளமான கடல் பல்லுயிர் பெருக்கத்துடன் அதிக உற்பத்தித் திறன் கொண்ட பகுதியாகும். சுற்றுச்சூழலை சமநிலையில் வைத்திருப்பதில் டால்பின்கள் முக்கிய பங்கு வகிக்கின்றன.
• டால்பின்கள் வேட்டையாடுதல், மீன்பிடி வலைகளில் சிக்குதல், மிதமிஞ்சிய மீன்பிடித்தல், காலநிலை மாற்றம், கப்பல் வேலைநிறுத்தங்கள், சுற்றுலா நடவடிக்கைகள், நச்சு மாசுபாடு, ஒலி மாசுபாடு, எண்ணெய் மற்றும் எரிவாயு வளர்ச்சி மற்றும் வாழ்விடச் சீரழிவு போன்ற பல்வேறு இயற்கை மற்றும் மனிதனால் தூண்டப்பட்ட அச்சுறுத்தல்களை உலகெங்கிலும் உள்ள டால்பின்கள் எதிர்கொள்கின்றன. 
• அதேபோல், மீனவர்கள் மற்றும் கடல் சார்ந்த பிற மக்களுடன் இணைந்து நவீன தொழில்நுட்பத்தைப் பயன்படுத்தி டால்பின்கள் மற்றும் அவற்றின் நீர்வாழ் வாழ்விடங்களைப் பாதுகாப்பது இத்திட்டத்தின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும். 
• இத்திட்டத்தின் மூலம் டால்பின் இனங்களின் எண்ணிக்கையை அதிகப்படுத்துவதற்கும், அவற்றின் வாழ்விடத்தைப் பாதுகாப்பதற்கும் அதே நேரத்தில் உள்ளூர் சமூகங்களின் வாழ்வாதாரத்தை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கும் இந்த டால்பின் திட்டம் உதவியாக இருக்கும். 
• இத்திட்டத்தின் கீழ் அழிவு நிலையில் காணப்படும் உயிரினங்களை பாதுகாப்பதில் உள்ள சவால்களை கையாள பல நடவடிக்கைகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்படும்.

பாதுகாப்பது எப்படி?

• டால்பின்கள் பாதுகாப்பு திட்டம் / DOLPHIN PROTECTION SCHEME: சிறந்த ரோந்து வேட்டை தடுப்பு நடவடிக்கைகள் மூலம் பாதுகாப்பு நடவடிக்கைகளை வலுப்படுத்துதல் மற்றும் நவீன உபகரணங்கள் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பத்துடன் கண்காணிப்பு மற்றும் ரோந்து குழுக்களை வலுப்படுத்துதல்.

• உள்ளூர் மக்கள் மற்றும் கல்வி நிறுவனங்களின் ஒத்துழைப்புடன் 'டால்பின் உதவித்தொகை' தொடங்குதல் உட்பட ''தேசிய டால்பின் தினத்தை'' கொண்டாடுவதன் மூலம் விழிப்புணர்வை மேம்படுத்துதல்.
• ஊக்கத்தொகை மற்றும் விருதுகள் மூலம் உள்ளூர் சமூகத்தை ஊக்குவித்தல்.

• DOLPHIN PROTECTION SCHEME: In a report issued by the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Forests, it has been said that: More than 9 types of dolphins are found in marine life in Tamil Nadu. 
• Accordingly, Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve is their main habitat. Last year, 7 dolphins were successfully rescued and released back into the sea in the Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve. 
• The Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve is a highly productive area with rich marine biodiversity, including marine mammals such as the sea cow. Dolphins play an important role in keeping the ecosystem in balance.
• Dolphins worldwide face a variety of natural and human-induced threats such as poaching, entanglement, overfishing, climate change, ship strikes, tourism activities, toxic pollution, noise pollution, oil and gas development, and habitat degradation. 
• Likewise, the main objective of the project is to work with fishermen and other marine people to protect dolphins and their aquatic habitats using modern technology. 
• Through this project, the dolphin program will help increase the number of dolphin species, protect their habitat and at the same time improve the livelihood of local communities. Under this scheme several measures will be taken to address the challenges of conservation of endangered species.

How to protect?

• DOLPHIN PROTECTION SCHEME: Strengthen security measures through better anti-poaching measures and strengthen surveillance and patrol teams with modern equipment and technology.
• Strengthening of veterinary services, rescue and rehabilitation activities through patrolling and training.
• Improving dolphin habitat by restoring coastal ecosystems such as driftwood, coral reefs, and sea grass.
• Removal of trawl nets and reduction of pollution in coastal areas.
• Promote awareness by celebrating ``National Dolphin Day'' including launching a 'Dolphin Scholarship' in collaboration with local people and educational institutions.
• Promoting the local community through incentives and awards.
• Such as starting a dolphin scholarship program and improving understanding of their habitats, promoting ecotourism and creating alternative livelihood opportunities to conventional fishing practices.
• Organizing seminars, conferences, meetings etc. for better learning and understanding of the above endangered species.
