The National Coal Index rose 3.83 points in September
  • The National Coal Index rose 3.83 points to 143.91 in September. This is the first increase since April this year.
  • The National Coal Index 2020 was released by the Ministry of Coal on 4th June. It is a price index that reflects the change in the price of coal in a particular month compared to a fixed base year.
  • The National Coal Index (NCI) is used to determine the premium (on a tonne basis) or revenue share (on a percentage basis) based on market-based practice.
  • This index covers all transactions of crude coal in the Indian market. It includes metallurgical coal and non-metallurgical coal used in various grades in regulated (power and fertiliser) and unregulated sectors.
  • The rise in NCI is indicative of rising demand for coal due to the upcoming festive season and winter in the country, encouraging coal producers to take maximum advantage by further increasing domestic coal production to meet growing energy needs.
Central government has started selling 'Bharat' auto at Rs. 27.50
  • Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Mr. Piyush Goyal flagged off 100 mobile vans for sale of wheat flour (atta) under the 'Bharat' brand at the Motorway in New Delhi today (06-11-2023). 
  • Of this, atta per kg is Rs. Available at retail price not exceeding 27.50. This is one of the series of measures taken by the central government for the benefit of the common consumer. 
  • Launch of retail sale of 'Bharat' brand Atta increases supply at affordable prices in the market. And will help bring down the price of this important food item.
  • 'Bharat' Atta will be available from today across all stores and mobile outlets of Kendriya Bandar, Nafed and NCCF. Its sales will be expanded to other co-operative and retail outlets as well.
Tascon 2023 in Chennai - Minister Udayanidhi inaugurated
  • Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udayanidhi Stalin inaugurated the Tamil Nadu Sports Science International Conference (TASCON 2023) at a private hotel in Chennai today.
  • Tamil Nadu International Symposium on Sports Science (TASCON 2023) will be held on 7th and 8th November 2023 at Taj Coromandel, Chennai. Around 250 delegates led by sports science scholars from India, Britain, Netherlands, Malaysia and Canada participated in it.

  • The match was played at Mohali Cricket Ground in Chandigarh. Baroda won the toss and elected to bowl. Accordingly, the Punjab team, who batted first, scored 223 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Anmolpreet Singh scored 113 off 61 balls. His innings included 10 fours and 6 sixes. Nehal Vadera scored 61 runs off 27 balls.
  • Baroda chased down the target of 224 runs. Abhimanyu Singh scored 61 runs, Ninath Rathwa scored 47 runs, Krunal Pandya scored 45 runs and Vishnu Solanki scored 28 runs. However, Baroda scored only 203 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. So Punjab won by 20 runs.
  • Anmolpreet Singh won the man of the match award. Abhishek Sharma won the Man of the Series award. Prize money has also been announced for the winning Punjab team.
