Prime Minister inaugurated World Food India Fair Festival 2023
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today (03-11-2023) inaugurated the second 'World Food India 2023' grand food fair festival at Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. He also provided initial capital assistance to more than one lakh SHG members to strengthen the SHGs. 
  • Prime Minister Modi visited the exhibition set up on the occasion. The program aims to showcase India as the 'Food Basket of the World' and celebrate 2023 as the International Year of Small Grains.
  • Various pavilions have been set up to showcase the innovation and strength of the Indian food processing industry. The event is held with 48 sessions focusing on various aspects of the food processing industry. It will cover various aspects related to financial empowerment, quality assurance, machinery and technological innovation.
  • Participants from more than 80 countries, including CEOs of major food processing companies, are participating in the event. It will also have a vendor meet with over 1200 participants from over 80 countries. The Netherlands is a partner country. Japan has been the focus of these events.
Total coal production reached 78.65 million tonnes in October 2023
  • The Ministry of Coal has projected overall coal production to reach a remarkable 78.65 million tonnes in October 2023. This is an increase of 18.59% from 66.32 million tonnes in the same month last year. Coal India's (CIL) production rose to 61.07 million tonnes in October this year from 52.94 million tonnes in October 2022. 
  • Overall coal production (up to October 2023) has increased significantly from 448.49 million tonnes in FY 2022-23 to 507.02 million tonnes in FY 2023-24, registering a growth of 13.05 per cent.
  • In addition, coal shipments showed a significant boost in October 2023, reaching 79.30 million tonnes, which showed excellent progress with a growth rate of 18.14% compared to 67.13 million tonnes recorded in October 2022. 
  • Coal India Company (CIL) shipments reached 61.65 million tonnes in October 2023 compared to 53.69 million tonnes in October 2022, representing a growth of 14.83%. Aggregate coal dispatch (up to October 2023) rose significantly to 541.73 million tonnes in FY23-24 from 483.78 million tonnes in the corresponding period of FY2022-23, a growth of 11.98%.
  • A significant increase in both coal production and dispatch underscores the country's advancing energy self-sufficiency. Strengthening our commitment to meet future energy needs. The Ministry of Coal is committed to ensuring continuous production and supply of coal, thereby securing a reliable energy supply that underpins the country's ongoing growth.
