Puducherry Government has launched a new app for auto rides
- Transport department to launch new app for auto rides in Puducherry. The Transport Department has said that the initiative is being taken to reduce complaints of overcharging due to irregular fare fixing.
- It is said that through this mobile app, tolls will be collected in an orderly manner and auto drivers will be paid equally.
- He also said that through this, auto rides will be conducted in a safe and fair manner. It has also been informed that appropriate action will be taken against the auto drivers who charge more than the prescribed fare. Penalties are also levied for autos that are non-compliant and operated without proper permits.
- Auto drivers have to get the fares as announced in the ordinance issued in 2016. According to the Puducherry Transport Department, the minimum fare is Rs 35 for the first 1.8 km, Rs 18 per km beyond that and Rs 5 per five minutes.
- In the 63rd Council meeting of the London-based International Sugar Organization (ISO), India was selected as the president of the organization for the year 2024. - India has the distinction of being the country that offers the highest price of sugarcane to farmers. Coordination between the government and the sugar industry has given a new lease of life to the Indian sugar industry. More than 98% of cane arrears for the year 2022-23 have already been paid.
- Union Ministry of Rural Development's Deenadayal Antiyothaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Movement (DAY-NRLM) in collaboration with Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Movement conducted the fourth consultative workshop on the theme "Economic Development of Women through Promotion of Producer Cooperatives".
- Participants from 7 states namely Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, representatives from government, private and social sector organizations participated in this workshop.
