52nd GST Council meeting
- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the GST Council meeting in Delhi. Speaking at the end of this, the Finance Minister said that full tax exemption will be given when retailing flour types containing more than 70 percent of small grains.
- He also informed that only 5% GST will be levied if Imma is packaged and sold with a label.
- The minister also informed that the GST rate on molasses, a by-product of sugar mills, will be reduced from 28 to 5 percent. Nirmala Sitharaman said that the sugarcane farmers will benefit and the price of animal fodder will be reduced.

- It has been reported that alcohols for human consumption will be exempted from GST tax while alcohols for industrial use will continue to be taxed.
