India-Kazakhstan joint military exercise Khazint 2023
  • A 120-member Indian Army and Indian Air Force contingent left for Kazakhstan today to participate in the 'Kazint-2023' joint military exercise. The exercise will be held from October 30 to November 11 in Otar, Kazakhstan.
  • In the Indian Army, the group consists of 90 soldiers under the leadership of a unit belonging to the Dogra force. The Kazakhstan regiment is mainly represented by soldiers from the Southern Regional Command of the Kazakhstan Ground Forces. 30 air force personnel from both sides will participate in this exercise along with army personnel.
  • A joint India-Kazakhstan exercise was launched in 2016 under the name 'Prabal Dostyk'. After the second edition, it was upgraded to an organizational measure and renamed 'Cogent Practice'. This year the exercise has been further developed into a two-way exercise involving the Air Force.
  • In this edition, both sides will practice conducting counter-terrorism operations in a non-conventional environment under the mandate of the UN. These teams will jointly rehearse various exercises including invasion, search and destroy operations. The purpose of this exercise is to conduct unmanned aerial system operations.
  • The 'Cozind-2023 exercise' will provide an opportunity for both sides to gain insight into tactics, war exercises and procedures while operating under the jurisdiction of the United Nations. This joint exercise will build the skills, resilience and coordination needed to conduct joint military operations in urban and non-urban environments.
  • Both sides will have the opportunity to train and learn from each other in a wide range of combat skills. The exercise will provide an opportunity for brigades to exchange ideas and share best practices. The 'Gazint-2023 Exercise' will further strengthen the bond between the armies of the two countries.
