Shirdi Airport New Terminal - Rs 1,200 crore approved
  • The Maharashtra government on Saturday released a resolution allocating Rs 1,200 crore for the completion and development of the pending work on another terminal at the Shirdi airport.
  • Rs 364 crore has been earmarked for earlier works and Rs 876 crore for development works of another terminal and expansion of Shirdi airport. The resolution was tabled by the Chief Secretary of the State. Following this, the resolution was approved by the Chief Minister and the Cabinet.
  • Shirdi Airport is connected to all major cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Tirupati. The airport handles 64,000 passengers every month. Most of the travelers who come here are Sai Baba devotees. Also, the export and import of agricultural and other goods takes place at this airport.
  • The amount will be spent on beautification of areas adjacent to the airport, construction of entrance gate, reconstruction of runway, construction of sewage canal at the airport and acquisition of land for construction of houses for security personnel besides training centre.
  • The new terminal will have an area of 55,000 square meters. It will have all the modern amenities. The ground floor will have facilities like testing hall, passenger screening area, remote monitoring facility and material handling system.

  • NLC India Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, is particularly focused on undertaking all renewable energy initiatives. It has incorporated a subsidiary called NLC India Green Energy Limited (NLCEL).
  • The company's first board meeting approved the adoption of the company's logo and the appointment of key management positions. Mr. Nigel, the company's president, who unveiled the company's logo. 
  • Prasanna Kumar Motupalli said the new entity focusing on renewable energy projects will help rapidly increase RE power generation capacity. As the industrial climate is very promising, development of RE such as pumped hydro system and battery energy storage system will happen simultaneously.
  • According to the Ministry of Electricity's Optimum Energy Mix Report 2030, the planned BESS in the power infrastructure is about 41.65 GW, which offers great scope for storage system development.
  • The subsidiary is expected to install 6 GW of RE projects by 2030. Projects of 2 GW capacity are being developed in various parts of the country
