• உலக புள்ளியியல் தினம் 2023 / WORLD STATISTICS DAY 2023: உலக புள்ளியியல் தினம் ஒவ்வொரு ஐந்து வருடங்களுக்கும் அக்டோபர் 20 அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது மற்றும் மனித வாழ்வில் புள்ளிவிவரங்களின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை குறிக்கும் வகையில் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. 
• சேவை, தொழில்முறை மற்றும் ஒருமைப்பாடு ஆகியவற்றின் மதிப்புகளின் அடிப்படையில் உத்தியோகபூர்வ புள்ளிவிவரங்களை நிறைவேற்றுவது பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதையும் இந்த நாள் நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது.
• கடைசியாக அக்டோபர் 20, 2015 அன்று உலக புள்ளியியல் தினம் அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டது, அடுத்தது அக்டோபர் 20, 2025 அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்படும்.

• உலக புள்ளியியல் தினம் 2023 / WORLD STATISTICS DAY 2023: பிப்ரவரி 2010 இல் ஐநா பொதுச் சபையின் 41வது அமர்வில் ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் புள்ளியியல் ஆணையத்தால் உலகப் புள்ளியியல் தினத்தைக் கடைப்பிடிப்பதற்கான முன்மொழிவு முன்வைக்கப்பட்டது. 
• நம்பகமான, சரியான நேரத்தில் புள்ளிவிவரங்கள் மற்றும் நாடுகளின் முன்னேற்றத்தின் குறிகாட்டிகளை உருவாக்குவது தகவலறிந்த கொள்கைக்கு முக்கியமானது என்று ஆணையம் நம்பியது. 
• மில்லினியம் வளர்ச்சி இலக்குகளின் முடிவுகள் மற்றும் கண்காணிப்பு செயல்படுத்தல். இதை ஒப்புக்கொண்டு, பொதுச் சபை 3 ஜூன் 2010 அன்று 64/267 தீர்மானத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டது. 
• இது அதிகாரப்பூர்வமாக அக்டோபர் 20, 2010 அன்று முதல் உலக புள்ளியியல் தினமாக நியமித்தது. முதல் உலக புள்ளியியல் தினம் 130க்கும் மேற்பட்ட நாடுகளில் "அதிகாரப்பூர்வ புள்ளிவிவரங்களின் பல சாதனைகளைக் கொண்டாடுதல்" என்ற பொதுக் கருப்பொருளின் கீழ் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.
• மீண்டும் 2015 இல், பொதுச் சபை 96/282 என்ற மற்றொரு தீர்மானத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டது, அது 20 அக்டோபர் 2015 ஐ இரண்டாவது உலக புள்ளியியல் தினமாக நியமித்தது மற்றும் ஒவ்வொரு ஐந்து வருடங்களுக்கும் இந்த நாளைக் கடைப்பிடிப்பதை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டது.

• ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் (UN) கூற்றுப்படி, இந்த ஆண்டு 3வது உலக புள்ளியியல் தினத்தை "நாம் நம்பக்கூடிய தரவுகளுடன் உலகை இணைப்பது" என்ற கருப்பொருளைக் குறிக்கும்.
• ஐ.நா.வின் அதிகாரப்பூர்வ தளத்தின்படி, இந்த ஆண்டிற்கான தீம் தேசிய புள்ளியியல் அமைப்புகளில் நம்பிக்கை, அதிகாரபூர்வமான தரவு, புதுமை மற்றும் பொது நலன் ஆகியவற்றின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை பிரதிபலிக்கிறது.

• WORLD STATISTICS DAY 2023: World Statistics Day is observed every five years on October 20 and is celebrated to mark the importance of statistics in human lives. The day also aims to create awareness of the accomplishment of official statistics based on the values of service, professionalism and integrity.
• The last World Statistics Day was observed on October 20, 2015 and the next will be observed on October 20, 2025.

Significance of World Statistics Day

• WORLD STATISTICS DAY 2023: The next World Statistics Day will be observed in 2025 and will focus on the importance of statistics in academic research and in the development of civil society and businesses. Statistics are indispensable to the social and economic development of any country and help with informed decision making.
• To celebrate the process of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting huge amounts of massive data to contribute to the betterment of society, World Statistics Day will be observed with great enthusiasm.

History of World Statistics Day Observation

• WORLD STATISTICS DAY 2023: The proposal to observe World Statistics Day was put forward by the United Nations Statistical Commission at the 41st Session of UN General Assembly in February 2010. 
• The commission believed that the production of reliable, timely statistics and indicators of countries’ progress is critical for informed policy decisions and monitoring implementation of the Millennium Development Goals. Acknowledging this, the General Assembly adopted resolution 64/267 on 3 June 2010 which officially designated 20 October 2010 as the first ever World Statistics Day. The first World Statistics Day was celebrated in over 130 countries under the general theme “Celebrating the many achievements of official statistics.”
• Again in 2015, the General Assembly adopted another resolution, 96/282, that designated 20 October 2015 as the second World Statistics Day and also adopted the observation of this day every five years.

World Statistics Day 2023 Theme

• According to the United Nations (UN), this year will mark the 3rd World Statistics Day with the theme "Connecting the world with data we can trust."
• According to the official site of UN, the theme for this year reflects the importance of trust, authoritative data, innovation and the public good in national statistical systems.
