The Asian Games began with a bang
- The 19th Asian Games kicked off with a colorful performance at the Lotus Stadium in Hangzhou, China.
- The events kicked off with a spectacular opening ceremony that incorporated elements of artificial intelligence and eco-friendly technology. The ceremony, which lasted about 2 hours, reflected on technology, China's cultural history and the continent's sense of unity.
- In line with the main theme of 'Rising Waves in Asia', the opening ceremony highlighted the convergence of China, Asia and the world in a new era, the unity and love of the Asian people through spectacular performances. About 80,000 people thronged the stadium to witness the opening ceremony.
- After the colorful programs were over, the festival stage lit the torch for the competition in digital technology. Chinese President Xi Jinping then formally announced the opening of the Asian Games.
- More than 12,000 athletes from 45 countries participated in the 19th Asian Games. 655 people from India will participate in this competition to be held till October 8. India was the 8th country in the inaugural parade.
- Indian hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh and boxer Lovelina Borgohain jointly carried the national flag. Along with them, 100 men and women from the Indian team marched.
- After the Olympics, the Asian Games is the biggest competition. In 2018, 11,000 men and women participated in the Asian Games, and now more than 12,000 have participated in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
- The tournament assumes importance as the Asian Games is a qualifier for the Paris Olympics. Athletes from 45 countries will fight hard to win 481 gold medals in 61 disciplines in 40 sports at the Asian Games.

- Prime Minister Modi visited his home constituency Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh yesterday to launch development projects. There, he laid the foundation stone for an international cricket stadium to be built at a cost of Rs 450 crore at Rajadalabi.
- State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajiv Shukla and Secretary Jay Shah, cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and Dilip Vengsarkar were invited and honored at the event.

- UP has spent Rs 121 crore to provide land for this stadium. BCCI will spend Rs 330 crore for the construction of the stadium. It is reported that the stadium will be operational by December 2025 after the construction work is completed.
- This stadium is going to be built with Lord Shiva as the center. Its roof is in the shape of a crescent on Shiva's head, the high-tower electric lights are in the shape of a trident, the media arena is in the shape of a Uduk, and the galleries are in the shape of the steps of the Ganges.
- This is the 3rd cricket stadium to be built in Uttar Pradesh. It is noteworthy that Lucknow and Kanpur already have cricket grounds.

- Chairman of the High Level Committee Mr. Ramnath Kovind welcomed the committee members and explained the agenda of the meeting.
- It was decided in the meeting of the High Level Committee to call a meeting of the recognized national political parties, state political parties, political parties with representation in the Parliament and other recognized state political parties regarding the holding of simultaneous elections in the country.

- Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Affairs, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, will flag off the first green hydrogen fuel cell bus on the highway in Delhi on Monday (September 25).
- IndianOil has started a pilot program to run 15 fuel cell buses powered by green hydrogen on identified routes in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
- Under this scheme, in the first phase 2 fuel cell buses will be operated from India Gate on 25.09.2023 (Monday). In this first attempt in India, fuel cell buses will be supplied with green hydrogen at an energy density of 350 bar.
- A state-of-the-art distribution facility for refueling green hydrogen produced from electrolysis using solar PV panels has been installed at the Faridabad campus of Indian Oil Company's Research and Development Centre.
- Once the 2 buses are introduced, all the buses will be evaluated for a journey distance of over 3 lakh kilometers for long-term evaluation of the performance and longevity of this new technology.
- The data generated through these rigorous tests will serve as a national repository for shaping the future of the zero-emissions movement in a country powered by green hydrogen.
