Indian Navy ship Sahyadri participates in India-Indonesia-Australia Trilateral Maritime Exercise
- INS Sahyadri, an indigenously built warship of the Indian Navy, is deployed in the Indo-Pacific. The ship participated in the first Trilateral Maritime Partnership exercise from 20 to 21 September with ships and aircraft from the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and the Indonesian Navy.
- The trilateral exercise provided an opportunity for the three maritime nations to strengthen their partnership and enhance their collective capacity to support a stable, peaceful and secure Indo-Pacific region.
- The exercise provided an opportunity for participating navies to benefit from each other's experience and expertise. Complex tactics and strategy exercises, cross-deck visits and cross-deck landings of combined helicopters were conducted to train the crew and improve each other's performance.
- INS Sahyadri, the third ship of the indigenously designed and built Project-17 class multirole stealth warships, was built at Mazagaon Docks Limited, Mumbai, and is commanded by Captain Rajan Kapoor.
- The Ministry of Railways has also decided to modify the compensation payable to the injured road users in case of Railways' primary liability in case of manned level crossing gate accident, as defined under section 124 and 124-A of the Railway Act, 1989, to the heirs of passengers killed and injured in railway accidents and mishaps.
- According to this, a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh will be given. For seriously injured Rs. 2 lakh 50 thousand, for minor injuries Rs. 50 thousand will be given as ex gratia.
- The families of those who lost their lives in accidents will receive Rs. 1 lakh 50 thousand, for seriously injured Rs. 50,000 and for minor injuries Rs. 5,000 will be given as gratuity.
- In case of Railways primary liability in manned level crossing gate accident, Rs. 5 lakh will be given. For seriously injured Rs. 2 lakh 50 thousand, for minor injuries Rs. 50 thousand will be given as ex gratia.
- If a passenger seriously injured in a train accident is hospitalized for more than 30 days, Rs. 3,000/- once in 10 days or till the day of discharge from hospital. In case of accidental injury and hospital treatment upto 6 months or till the date of discharge Rs. 1500 will be released once every 10 days.
- For start-up expenses a maximum of Rs. 50 thousand will be given in cash. The remaining amount will be paid as a check payable to the account holder only.
- The country's economy registered a growth of 7.80 percent in the first quarter of the current fiscal, driven by strong domestic demand, consumption and investment. A study should be carried out on the possible impact on the crops due to the increase in crude oil prices and lack of monsoon rains in August. However, rains in September partially offset the deficit in August. There are always problems that may arise due to changes in the stock market.
- Mitigating these impacts are improving corporate profitability, private sector capital formation, increased bank lending and activity in the construction sector. Due to this, the government is confident that the country's economic growth will be 6.5 percent in the current financial year.
- Inward investment has increased due to central government giving more importance to capital expenditure. Moreover, it has also encouraged state governments to increase their capital expenditure.
- The share of net exports in gross domestic product increased in the first quarter of the current fiscal year as service sector exports increased. As far as the banking sector is concerned, non-performing loans are on the decline. As per March 2023 data, non-bank financial institutions' profitability and venture capital are on the rise.
