77th Independence Day - President Draupadi Murmu approves 76 gallantry awards
- President Draupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of 76 Calendar Awards (Military Gallantry Award) to Armed Forces and Central Armed Forces Constables on the occasion of 77th Independence Day.
- These 76 calendar awards include 4 Kirti Chakra awards, 11 Solar Chakras, 52 Sena Medals, 3 Nao Sena Medals (Navy) and 4 Vayu Sena Medals (Air Force) awarded to martyrs.
- The President has also approved awarding of the award to the deceased army dog Madhu for his significant contribution in various military operations and awards to Air Force personnel.
- Operation Rakshak, Operation Snow Leopard, Operation Casualty Evacuation, Operation Mount Somo, Operation Bangchao Pass, Operation Makdoot, Operation Orchid, Operation Kalisham Valley, Rescue Operation and Operation Evacuation will also be honored by President Draupadi Murmu.
- A student hostel building built at a cost of Rs.8 crore 43 lakh 9 thousand to accommodate 150 students in Father Periyar Government College of Technology, Vellore, classroom buildings built at a cost of Rs 8 crore 50 lakh in the campus of Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, Tirupur LRG Government Women's College A new building has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 10 crore 94 lakh 50 thousand to replace the dilapidated main building of the college and a total cost of Rs. 87 crore 76 lakh 93 thousand has been constructed in many districts.
- The opening ceremony of these buildings was held yesterday at the Chief Secretariat, Chennai. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin attended and inaugurated the newly constructed higher education department buildings through video conference.
- The General Committee meeting of National Institute of Social Security (NISD) was chaired by Mr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Union Government and Chairman, GC, NISD.
- The main objectives of the meeting were to review the status of structure, operations and programs of NISD. As a prelude to the discussion, the NISD Director gave a brief presentation on NISD and showcased the NISD departments and their functions through a short film.
- Agenda items were also discussed in the meeting. Annual Report - 2020-2021, 2021-2022, Balance Sheet 2022-23, Status of Training Programs in FY 2022-23, MoU with Delhi Police Academy, Renovation of Research Unit with Manpower, Research Activities Planned by NIST in 2023-24, Proposed Social Security System of NIST, discussed NIST's proposed social security system, including the establishment of NIST's broadcast platform.
