Prime Minister inaugurated SemiconIndia 2023 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat
- Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi inaugurated today. Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar were also present.
- The theme of the conference is 'Promoting India's Semiconductor Ecosystem'. It aims to bring together global leaders from industry, academia and research institutions. It articulates India's semiconductor strategy and policy aimed at making India a global hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing and technology development.
- A joint expedition of marine scientists from India, Bangladesh and Mauritius was concluded on July 24, 2023 under the regional framework of the Colombo Security Summit (CSC) by the Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Ministry of Geosciences.
- The mission's primary objective is to build capacity in ocean monitoring and services, along with predicting, managing and collecting marine data on changes in the regional environment of the Indian Ocean.
- The voyage of the ORV Sagar Nidhi vessel, which was undertaken for the first time under the CSC framework, was unique. The participants undertook collaborative activities such as measuring and modeling ocean parameters. The trip is set to lead to improved forecasting and services for the common good of all in the region.
- The voyage of the ORV Sagar Nidhi, which commenced on June 29, 2023, was a result of the first collaborative effort of CSC oceanographers and hydrographers held in Goa and Hyderabad last November 2022, it is noted.
- Asian Chess Federation Vice President Bharat Singh Chouhan met the Chief Minister M.K.Stalin in Chennai. Then, on behalf of that organization, they presented the best man award for the year 2023 to the Chief Minister. This award has been presented to the Chief Minister for successfully conducting the 44th International Chess Olympiad in Tamil Nadu.
- The Tamil Nadu government is planning to host the tournament, which is being held again in Chennai after 16 years, in collaboration with Hockey India. 45 teams from Asia including India, China, Pakistan, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea are participating in this tournament.
- Also, in order to conduct the international level competition well, a primary hockey artificial fiber pitch of 2024 Paris Olympic Games standard has been constructed at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority at a cost of 16 crore rupees. A lot of things have been done, including synthetic fiber pitches for players to train and patch work.
- This new and upgraded hockey ground was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin opened. The event was attended by Ministers Udhayanidhi Stalin, PK Shekhar Babu, Chennai Mayor Priya Rajan and Udhayanidhi's son Inbanidi.
- Earlier, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu inaugurated the statue commemorating the "Men's Hockey Cup - 2023".
- The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) today signed an agreement for a $200 million loan as additional funding for the ongoing Rajasthan Secondary Cities Development Sector Program to expand drinking water supply practices, improve sanitation systems, and promote urban resilience and traditional livelihoods in selected cities.
- Mr. Umlunmang Ulnam, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and Tako Konishi, India Director, Asian Development Bank for the Asian Development Bank, signed the loan agreement.
