Rs 1 lakh each for 500 women to buy autos: Chief Minister Stalin launched the scheme
- To ensure the social security of the unorganized workers and to improve their livelihood, 18 welfare boards have been established by the Tamil Nadu government.
- Since this government assumed charge on May 7, 2021 and till May 31, 2023, 13.80 lakh workers have been registered in the non-organized labor welfare boards and 11.82 lakh beneficiaries have been provided welfare assistance worth Rs. 914.27 crore.
- On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Unorganized Drivers, Automatic Motor Vehicle Repair Workers Welfare Board, various welfare schemes are provided to the registered workers for education, marriage etc. At present 1.74 lakh workers are members of this board.
- In order to encourage registered women drivers to buy their own autos, create self-employment opportunities and improve their standard of living, a scheme was announced to provide a subsidy of Rs.1 lakh each to 500 women drivers on the cost of buying a new auto.
- Chief Minister Stalin launched this scheme yesterday. The chief minister gave the registration certificate and permission documents for new autos to 10 of the 141 beneficiaries selected for the subsidy in the first phase of the scheme.
