The Connectivity Planning Committee working under the Prime Minister's Quick Power Scheme recommended the Tripura Road Project in its 49th session
- The 49th Link Planning Committee meeting of Prime Minister's Fast Power National Project has recommended a road project in Tripura. The meeting held in New Delhi was presided over by Ms. Sumita Thawra, Special Secretary, Logistics Division, Department of Industry and Domestic Trade Development.
- The meeting considered upgrading of the 134.9 km stretch of road in Kowai-Teliamura-Harina and widening of the corridor of NH-208 in Tripura. Its total value is Rs 2,486 crore.
- The road connects Gowai, Gomati and South Tripura districts to places like Gowai, Theliamura, Dwidu, Amarpur, Garbuk and Harina in Tripura. It will not only improve inter-state connectivity in Assam and Tripura, but also boost economic and industrial activities in Tripura.
Indian Council of Agricultural Research signs MoU with Amazon Kisan to empower farmers
- An MoU was signed in New Delhi to guide farmers in scientifically growing various crops for maximum yield and income and to build joint strength and potential between Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Amazon Kisan.
- ICAR will provide technical support to farmers through the Amazon network. This will improve the livelihood of the farmers and help increase the yield of the crops. The agreement has been signed to ensure access to high-quality fresh produce to consumers across the country, including through Amazon Fresh.
- The deal will see Amazon train farmers and market their produce through its website; Direct interactions with consumers.
- The Indian Army signed the 2nd procurement contract with IDEX on June 9, 2023 as a follow-up to its commitment to manufacture in India. A contract has been signed with a private company, Astrom Tech, Bangalore for procurement of indigenously manufactured 'Tactical LAN Radio'. The agreement was signed in the presence of Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar.
- 'Tactical LAN Radio' is a modern technology wireless radio with high bandwidth. This enables reliable and secure information exchange. It comes with comprehensive security features. It is noteworthy that the same device can be operated continuously for 48 hours without any interruption.
- IDEX was launched in 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The objective of this institute is to encourage the development of technology related to defense and space with the involvement of research and development institutes, educational institutes, enterprises including MSMEs, start-up companies, individual innovators.
