G20 India Chairs: 3rd Health Working Group Meeting (HWG)
- Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar addressed the inaugural session of the 3rd G20 Health Working Group meeting in Hyderabad, Telangana.
- Union Minister for Tourism Mr. G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prof. SP Singh Bagel and Niti Aayog Member (Health) Dr. VK Pal were present on the occasion.
- The Central Government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, under the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952, has ordered the formation of a Commission of Inquiry headed by the former Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court, Ajay Lamba.
- Retired IAS officer Mr. Himanshu Shekhar Das and retired IPS officer Mr. Aloka Prabhakar will be members of the commission. The committee will inquire into the incidents of violence in the state of Manipur on and after 03.05.2023.
- The Commission will inquire into the violence in Manipur, the reasons for its spread and any lapses on the part of the responsible authorities or individuals.
- Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah visited the state of Manipur from May 29 to June 1. After examining the situation there, he has announced that he will appoint this commission of inquiry.
- It shall submit its report to the Central Government as soon as possible within a period of six months from the date of the first session of the Commission. The headquarters of the Commission shall function at Imphal.
