Junior Asia Cup Hockey - Team India defeated Pakistan to win the title for the 4th time
- The 10th Junior Asia Cup Hockey Tournament started in Salalah, Oman on 23rd of last month. Defending champions India and Pakistan advanced to the finals of the 10-team tournament. India scored 2 goals and Pakistan scored 1 goal in this thrilling final.
- In the 13th minute of the match, Angad Bir Singh and Arijeet Singh Handal scored a goal each in the 20th minute and added strength to India. With this win, India's tally of junior hockey trophies has gone up to 4. India had previously won the Junior Asia Cup in 2004, 2008 and 2015.
- Accordingly, the Indian team who won the Junior Men's Asia Cup hockey series will be given an incentive of Rs 2 lakh each and coaches and assistants Rs 1 lakh each.
- The Union Minister of Education and Skill Development, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, today released the University Grants Commission (Deemed to be Universities) Rules 2023. University Grants Officer Professor Jagadish Kumar, Higher Education Secretary Mr. Sanjay Murthy and others participated in the event. Following the announcement of the National Education Policy 2020, the University Grants Commission constituted an expert committee to review and revise the rules.
- The expert panel's guidance, public comments and recommendations of the Commission were considered before sending the final draft rules to the Central Higher Education Department.
- Key features include: These rules have been developed in conjunction with the National Education Policy 2020. 3.01 CGPA with NAC “A” grade for three consecutive semesters or top 50 ranks in NIRF-N specialization for three consecutive years to apply to associate universities
- Educational institutes can apply online for the virtual universities. An expert panel examines the applicants' relevant documents and facilities online. These new rules are designed with quality in mind.
- The affiliated universities with less than NAC “A” grade or the affiliated universities ranked above 100 in the NIRF-N ranking will be monitored by the UGC expert panel. UGC recommends withdrawal of approval granted to the university if the grievances are not remedied.
- Online universities have to follow the rules regarding fees, number of seats allowed etc.
