Ravi Sinha appointed as chief of 'RA' intelligence agency
  • RAW intelligence agency is working to prevent security threats against our country by collecting secret information from different countries of the world. Presently, the tenure of Samant Kumar Goyal, who is serving as its chairman, will end on the 30th.
  • Accordingly, the cabinet committee has approved the appointment of Ravi Sinha, 59, a 1988 batch Chhattisgarh cadre IPS officer as the new chairman.
  • He has more than 20 years of experience in the RAW intelligence organization and is currently serving as the head of the executive branch. In this situation, the central government has announced that he will be the head of this organization for the next two years.
Asian Championship Fencing: Bhavani Devi wins bronze medal
  • The Asian Fencing Championships are being held in Wuxi, China. In the competition, Bhavani Devi bagged a bye in the 64th round of women's sabre, representing India.
  • Subsequently, Bhavani defeated Kazakhstan's Tospe Karina in the next round and defeated first seed Ozani Cheri by 15-11 in the pre-quarterfinals.
  • Bhavani Devi advanced to the semi-finals after defeating world champion Emura of Japan 15-10 in the quarter-final match held today. With this he has secured India's first medal in the Asian Fencing Championship.
3rd Meeting of the Permanent Financial Working Committee
  • With India chairing the G20, the third meeting of the Finance Working Group to discuss funding to tackle climate change began in Mamallapuram. While the first meeting of the Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) was held in Guwahati, the second meeting was held in Udaipur, and the 3rd meeting has started in Mamallapuram. 
  • In this, it is being discussed about mobilizing financial resources to take necessary measures to control climate change, about implementing finance for sustainable development goals and about strengthening the capacity of the ecosystem.
  • The meeting will also discuss policies and financial instruments to support private capital to invest in green and low-carbon technologies. Academicians, think tanks, technical experts etc. have participated in it. 
  • Arrangements have also been made for public participation programs as the main event of the Standing Committee on Finance meeting. The opening session of the first day was addressed by Keetu Joshi, India's Head of International Economic Relations and Chandini Raina of the Department of Economic Affairs. Representatives of various countries including China and USA participated in this 3-day meeting.
X Conquist 2023 Joint Exercise in Mongolia
  • A joint military exercise involving more than 20 countries called X-ConQuist 2023 began today in Mongolia. This exercise was launched in Mongolia by the country's president, Mr. Ugnagin Kurelchuk. The exercise is jointly conducted by the Mongolian Army and the US Army Pacific Force.
  • An Indian Army team from the Karwar Rifles Division has participated in this exercise. In this 14-day exercise, sharing of experiences and training of UN peacekeepers will be held. The joint training will include enhancing military operations, peacekeeping capabilities and preparing future UN Security Force recruits.
The fourth G20 Education Working Group meeting was held in Pune
  • Under India's G20 leadership, a seminar on ensuring basic literacy and numeracy in a blended learning environment was held at Savitri Bai Phule University in Pune today. The seminar was organized as part of the G20 Fourth Education Working Group meeting. 50 delegates from 20 countries participated in it.
  • Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs Mr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh delivered the keynote speech at the seminar. It was attended by representatives of G20 countries, officials of international organizations and senior officials of central and state education departments, including Maharashtra State Minister for Higher Education and Technical Education Mr. Chandrakant Patil.
  • The seminar also organized a multi-media exhibition showcasing best practices in education, basic literacy and numeracy, digital initiatives, research and capacity building. More than 100 organizations including UNICEF, NCERT, National Book Trust, Indian Division of Knowledge Systems (IKS), and start-ups participated in the exhibition. The exhibition started on June 17 (except June 19) and will continue till June 22.
4th Tourism Task Force Meeting in Goa kicked off with 2 events
  • The 4th Tourism Task Force meeting in Goa began today with 2 events. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Tourism, Sripath Yaso Naik, Goa Tourism Minister, Mr. Rogan Khande, Secretary, Environment, Ms. Vidyavathy participated in the event.
  • The meeting held its first session on the topic of "Developing a cruise tourism model for sustainable and responsible travel".
