AKS Vijayan has been re-appointed as the Special Representative of the Government of Tamil Nadu to Delhi

• While M. K. Stalin was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in May 2021, former DMK MP A. K. S. Vijayan was appointed as the Special Representative of the Tamil Nadu Government in Delhi on June 14, 2021. AKS Vijayan's tenure was for one year. Subsequently, in June last year, AKS Vijayan was again appointed as the Special Representative of the Tamil Nadu Government in Delhi.
• In this case, the Tamil Nadu government has ordered the re-appointment of AKS Vijayan as the special representative of the Tamil Nadu government in Delhi. The order to this effect has been issued by the Chief Secretary. He has been re-appointed as the Special Representative of the Tamil Nadu Government to Delhi for the third time.

Permission of the Tamil Nadu government is necessary to conduct a CBI investigation

• A press release has been issued. In the press release, it is stated in Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Organization Act, 1946 that if the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is to conduct an investigation, it must obtain the prior permission of the respective state governments.
• The Tamil Nadu government has been ordered to withdraw the general permission granted to certain types of cases under this section in 1989 and 1992.
• Henceforth, the investigating agency must obtain the prior permission of the Tamil Nadu government before conducting an investigation in Tamil Nadu. States like West Bengal, Rajasthan, Kerala, Mizoram, Punjab and Telangana have already issued such an order.

Total Price Index falls to -3.48% in May 2023

• Annual inflation based on the All India Total Price Index has fallen to -3.48% (provisional) in May 2023 as compared to the previous year. It was -0.92% in April 2023. The fall in prices of mineral oils, base metals, food products, textiles, non-food products, crude petroleum and natural gas, and chemical products contributed to the fall in the inflation rate. 
• It is noteworthy that this inflation rate has been on a downward trend. Compared to April 2023, the total price index decreased by -0.86% in May.

The third meeting of the 'G20 Digital Economy Working Group' concluded on 14 June 2023 in Pune

• The third meeting of the 'G20 Digital Economy Working Group' concluded on June 14, 2023 in Pune. The Global Common Digital Infrastructure Summit and Global Common Digital Infrastructure Expo were the highlights of the 3-day meeting. A meeting was held with representatives of G-20 countries, guest countries and representatives of international organizations.
• More than 250 delegates attended the Global Common Digital Framework Summit on 12th and 13th June. These included 150 delegates from 50 countries. More than 200 people participated via video. During this working group meeting, India signed MoUs with USA, Sierra Leone, Suriname, Antigua and Barbuda to share successful implementation of digital exams.
• 60 experts from around the world participated in this Common Digital Architecture Summit and exchanged ideas in 10 keynote sessions. Recordings of these sessions are available at https://www.indiastack.global/global-dpi-summit/.
• The Global Common Digital Architecture Exhibition was held from June 12 to 14. The exhibition showcased the successful implementation of digital architecture across 14 experience platforms such as Digital Identity, Quick Money Transfer, DigiLocker, Soil Card, National e-Agriculture Market, Digital Translation. A large number of people including professionals, youth and senior citizens from Pune visited the exhibition.
• The fourth meeting of the Digital Economy Task Force and the Digital Economy Ministers' Meeting are scheduled to be held in Bengaluru in August 2023.
