Shanghai Cooperation Conference begins in Goa
- The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was launched in 2001. Russia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are members of this organization. Countries like Iran, Afghanistan, Belarus and Mongolia are observers.
- A 2-day meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization began yesterday in Goa, India. Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto arrived in Goa, India yesterday to participate in it.
- He took off from Karachi, Pakistan in a military aircraft and said in a video posted on Twitter, "I am looking forward to meeting the foreign ministers of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization."
- Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said, 'We are committed to establishing peace in the South Asian region. Pakistan's Foreign Minister Bilawal has visited India as a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," he said.
- In 2011, the then Pakistani minister Hina Rabbani came to India. After 12 years, the current Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal is going to India, according to the country's media. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Kong have also come to Goa.
- Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar met the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Hong Ming in Goa yesterday. - The official languages of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization are Russian and Chinese Mandarin. All documents related to this system are available only in Russian and Mandarin languages. In this context, India is insisting that English should also be made the official language. This point is to be reiterated at the Foreign Ministers' Conference.
- Currently, the exchange of money between the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is in dollar currency. Instead, it will be discussed to exchange money in the currencies of the respective countries.
- President Mrs. Draupadi launched the 'Drug Free Odisha' campaign today (May 4, 2023) at the Brahma Kumaris Center in Mayurpanj, Murmu Hatpatra area. Addressing the event, the President said, “Drug addiction is a disease. It is social, economic, physical and mental curse. Addiction causes tension in the family and society.
- Earlier, the President reached Bahadpur village and paid homage to late Shri Shyam Saran Murmu. Later, he laid the foundation stone for the skill training center and community center in the village and interacted with the villagers.
- Central Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises Department Secretary Mr. P.B. BizAmp (Amplifying Business) program was held on May 4, 2023 under the leadership of Swain, under the auspices of Self-Reliance India (SRI).
- The scheme was created with an aim to develop small, micro and medium enterprises in the North Eastern states and expand their businesses by availing the benefits under SRI Fund. The event was attended by industrialists from various North Eastern states.
- In the presence of Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Department of Geosciences (Individual Charge) Dr. Jitendra Singh, CSIR Director General Dr. N. Kalachelvi, Israel's Director of Defense Research and Development Dr. Daniel Gold signed the MoU.
- The agreement will enable cooperation in research and development projects in technology-oriented sectors of the industry with mutual cooperation through implementation of specific projects.
- The agreement is to implement projects in key industries including healthcare, aerospace and electronics, infrastructure and engineering, chemicals and petrochemicals, energy equipment, environment, geo and ocean sciences, sustainable energy including water, mining, mineral resources, metals, agriculture, nutrition, biotechnology.
