Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament
  • The opening ceremony of the new Parliament was held at the Parliament premises. First, Ganapati Homam was performed. In this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Speaker Om Birla participated. Subsequently, the scepter ceremony was held in Parliament. 
  • Poojas were performed formally to the scepter which was brought to the festival hall. A Sengottaiyan Puja was held in the presence of Atheenams from various Saiva monasteries including Thiruvavaduthurai Atheenam, reciting Vedic mantras and chanting Devaram. 
  • Also, all the Athenas honored the scepter by sprinkling it with holy water and sprinkling flowers. Then Prime Minister Narendra Modi prostrated before the holy scepter.
  • Following this, the sacred scepter was presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reciting Vedic mantras, singing Devaram and playing auspicious music in Tamil Nadu's Thiruvavaduthurai Atheenam, Darumapuram Atheenam, Kunrakkudi Atheenam, Madurai Atheenam, Perur Atheenam and Velakurichi Atheenam. 
  • Carrying the sacred scepter in his hands, Prime Minister Modi entered the Lok Sabha and installed the scepter near the Speaker's seat. Speaker Om Birla was also present at that time.
  • Subsequently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament building in the presence of Speaker Om Birla. Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and many others are present in this ceremony. Subsequently, Prime Minister Modi honored the laborers involved in the construction of the Parliament Building by wearing shawls and giving souvenirs. An interfaith prayer was held after this.

  • The second ministerial meeting of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Development was held yesterday in Detroit, USA. Minister of Commerce and Industry, Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles Mr. Piyush Goyal participated in the meeting through video.
  • In Tokyo, IPEF was jointly launched on May 23 last year by the United States and other partner countries in the Indo-Pacific region. IPEF consists of 14 countries namely Australia, Brunei, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, USA. It seeks to strengthen economic engagement among partner countries with the objective of growth, peace and prosperity in the region.

  • The Malaysia Masters Badminton Tournament started on the 23rd in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. In the final day of the series today, in the men's singles match, Indian player H.S. Pranai and Chinese player Weng Hongyang played.
