Kami Rita is a famous player who climbed Everest for the 27th time
  • Our neighboring country Nepal has the world's highest Mount Everest. Its height is 29 thousand 32 feet. In this case, the famous mountaineer Kami Rita, 53, from Solukumbu district here, has set a record by climbing Everest for the 27th time yesterday. A guide to trekkers, Kami Rita was the first to climb Mount Everest on May 13, 1994. 
  • He climbed Mount Everest for the 26th time in 2022. Recently, another mountaineer, Pasang Thawa from Nepal, climbed Mount Everest for the 26th time, equaling Kami Rita's record of 26 times.

Union Cabinet approves MoU between Department of Health Research and WHO
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has approved the agreement signed between the Department of Health Research and the World Health Organization (WHO). The agreement promotes low-cost availability of high-quality technology through research, innovation and capacity building.
  • This collaboration agreement was signed by World Health on 10.10.2022 and by Department of Health Research on 18.10.2022. The collaboration aims to draw international attention to access to technology, increase research and innovation, and develop and disseminate appropriate training programs.
Union Cabinet approves Memorandum of Understanding between Competition Commission of India and Competition Commission of Egypt
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved the Memorandum of Understanding between the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA).
  • This MoU aims to enhance communication between the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) to learn from and emulate each other's experiences through experience sharing and technical cooperation.
  • This MoU enables the Competition Authority of India to learn from the Competition Authority of Egypt. This will greatly benefit the consumers.
  • Section 18 of the Competition Act 2002 allows the Competition Commission of India to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with any foreign country for the purpose of discharging its duties. Accordingly, the above agreement was signed between India and Egypt.
Union Cabinet approves MoU between Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Chartered Accountants of Maldives
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the MoU signed between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Chartered Accountants of Maldives.
  • The objective of this MoU is to establish mutual cooperation and professional and intellectual development in the accountancy profession in Maldives and India.
  • This MoU will help in strengthening the capacity building of the respective countries and will provide an opportunity to expand their professionalism. Promote strong working relationship between India – Maldives. 
  • This MoU aims to provide up-to-date information on the development of accountants in India and the Maldives to promote the global accounting profession.
Union Cabinet approves fixing nutrient-based subsidy for phosphate and potash fertilizers
  • Revision of Nutrient Based Subsidy for Phosphate and Potassium Fertilizers for Rabi Season, 2022-23 (01.11.2023 to 31.03.2023) Fix Nutrient Based Subsidy for Kharif Season, 2023 (01.04.2023 to 30.09.2023) In consultation with Fertilizers Department Prime Minister Shri. The approval was given in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Narendra Modi today.
  • The approval will be used to make 25 grade phosphate and potassium fertilizer available to farmers at subsidized rates. The government will provide Rs 38,000 crore subsidy for Kharif 2023 to fulfill the government's promise of providing subsidized quality phosphate and potassium fertilizer to farmers.
  • The cabinet decision will ensure availability of DAP and other potassium and phosphate fertilizers at low cost and reasonable prices to farmers during the kharif season.
Cabinet approves Productive Incentive Scheme- 2.0 for IT hardware companies
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved the Rs 17,000 crore Productive Incentive Scheme for IT Hardware Companies- 2.0 announced in the Budget. India's electronics manufacturing has grown by 17 percent in the last 8 years. More than 105 billion USD (about Rs. 9 lakh crore) has been generated this year.
  • India is the second largest producer of mobile phones in the world. Mobile phones worth USD 11 billion (about Rs. 90 thousand crore) have been exported this year. India is emerging as the largest electronics manufacturing country as the international electronics manufacturing environment is moving towards India.
  • The scheme is limited to six years. It is expected to increase production to Rs 3.35 lakh crore, increase investment to Rs 2430 crore and create 75,000 direct jobs.
Third Energy Transition Working Group meeting of G20 on offshore wind energy project
  • A high-level meeting titled “Harnessing Offshore Wind to Accelerate Energy Transition: Future Plan” was held in Mumbai on May 16 as part of the Third Energy Transition Task Force Meeting under the leadership of G20 India. 
  • The meeting was organized by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy along with Global Wind Energy Council and National Wind Energy Corporation. Along with government representatives, financial institutions and leading domestic and foreign industrialists attended the event.
