VOC, Muvalur Ramamirtham, Muthulakshmi Reddy Statues - inaugurated by Chief Minister Stalin
  • On behalf of the news department, Chief Minister Stalin inaugurated the statues of VA Chidambaranar in the Coimbatore park, Muvalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar in Mayiladuthurai and Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy in Pudukottai at a cost of Rs 66 lakh. 
  • The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the new stadiums with statues of Erode Easwaran in Erode district and P. Subparayan, former Chief Minister of Chennai Province in Namakkal at a cost of Rs 5.10 crore.
  • Under the Department of Hindu Religious Endowments, an additional building for the Commissioner's office has been constructed at a cost of Rs.15 crores. The building was inaugurated by Chief Minister Stalin. It has been completed 6 months before the contract period. It is built with 3 floors and an area of 33,202 sqft.
  • At Samayapuram Mariamman temple in Trichy district, a complex with all facilities for devotees has been constructed at a cost of Rs.13.80 crore and a wedding hall at Krupapureeswarar temple in Villupuram district at a cost of Rs.1.63 crore. These were also inaugurated by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched welfare schemes in Rajasthan
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nattadwara to inaugurate welfare projects worth Rs 5,500 crore including roads and railways in Rajasthan. He was received at the airport by State Governor Kalraj Mishra and Chief Minister Ashok Khelat. Prime Minister Modi visited Rajasthan for the 3rd time this year. 
  • He worshiped at Srinathji temple in Nattadwara. He threw flowers at the people standing on his way. Prime Minister Modi laid foundation stone for road infrastructure projects to develop dual carriageway in Rajsamand and Udaipur. He also laid foundation stone for Udaipur railway station renovation and re-routing project. Also, he initiated 3 national highway projects
35th Indo-Thai Naval Joint Patrol Operation
  • The 35th joint patrol between the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy of Thailand was held from 3rd to 10th May. Indian Navy ship Kesari, an indigenously designed LSD ship, and Thai Navy ship Saiburi, among others, were engaged in patrolling in the Andaman Sea.
  • Since 2005, the two navies have been conducting joint patrols twice a year to ensure the security of international trade in the Indian Ocean.
Union Minister Mr. Sarbananda Sonowal launched the 'Harith Sagar' Green Port Guidelines 2023
  • To achieve the goal of zero carbon emissions, the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has introduced the 'Harith Sagar' Green Port Guidelines. These guidelines were issued by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH, Mr. Published in New Delhi by Sarbananda Sono.
  • The aim of these guidelines is to zero waste discharge from port operations and increase recycling. During the financial year 2022-23, the awards were given to major ports for their outstanding performance on operational and financial parameters. 
  • And they ranked the ports based on their overall performance in 2022-23. The objective is to create fair and healthy competition among major ports and encourage them to perform better and better in the coming year.
  • In 2022-23, Kamaraj Port was awarded for the lowest waiting time before ships enter the port. The overall performance award was given to Deenadayal Port, Kandla for handling 137.56 million metric tonnes of cargo.
