New Rules for Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies - Tamil Nadu Govt Issue
- The Government of Tamil Nadu has released new rules in the name of Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies New Rules 2023. In the new rules, the number of councilors to be elected in the corporation, municipality and townships based on population has been announced.
- Accordingly, it has been reported that there are 230 councilors in the corporation with a population of more than 8 lakhs. It is also reported that there may be 200 councilors in municipal corporations with a population of 60 to 80 lakhs.
- Municipalities with a population of more than 225,000 may have 52 councilors and municipalities with a population of less than 30,000 may have 22 councillors. Also, 21 municipalities with a population of more than 25,000 and 12 councilors in municipalities with a population of 10,000 to 15,000 have been informed.
- Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the Farm Machinery Technology Summit jointly organized by Indian Technical Federation, Tractor and Machinery Association.
- Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tomar said that 85 percent of small farmers are benefiting from machinery and technologies. Stating that the central government is working on this objective, he said that during the period from 2014-15 to 2022-23 financial year, Rs. 6,120 crore has been released to the states.
- This fund is spent on Agricultural Experimentation Center, High Technology Centers and Farm Machinery Banks for training of farmers under Agricultural Mechanization Scheme.
- The 7th India-UK joint military exercise “Ajaya Warrior-2023” will be held in Salisbury Plain, England from April 27 to May 11, 2023. The joint military exercise Ajaya Warrior is held every two years in England and India. Last time it was held in October 2021 at Chowpattia in Uttarakhand.
- Soldiers from 2 Royal Gurkha Friable Divisions from England and Indian Army Soldiers from Bihar Regiment are participating in this exercise. For this purpose, a group of Indian soldiers, along with indigenously manufactured weapons and equipment, reached Bris Norton on April 26, 2023 in an Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft.
