The centenary of the Vaikam struggle will be celebrated by the Tamil Nadu government for one year - CM Stalin's announcement
- Somanathar temple is located in Vaikam in Travancore state of Kerala state. For many years there was a practice that other castes were not allowed to walk in the streets around this temple. In this case, it was decided to hold a protest on March 30, 1924 at 6 am for this issue. This was the first struggle of the Vaikam struggle. This moral struggle continued. In this, important leaders including Periyar were arrested.
- The centenary of this Vaikam struggle is being celebrated today (March 30). On the occasion of Vaikam protest centenary, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin issued a notification under Article 110 in the Legislative Assembly.
- Born on September 16, 1963, Judge T.S. Sivagnanam started practicing as a lawyer in 1986 after studying law at Madras Law College. In the year 2000, T.S., who was an advocate of the central government Sivagnanam was appointed as Additional Judge of Madras High Court in March 2009.
- In March 2011, T.S. was appointed as a permanent judge of the Madras High Court. Shivanjanam was sworn in as a judge of the Calcutta High Court in October 2021. In this case, Kolkata High Court Chief Justice Prakash Srivatsava is retiring today, T.S., who is the second senior judge in the same High Court.
- The Collegium had recommended the appointment of Shivanjanam as the next Chief Justice. In this case, Judge T.S. The President has appointed Shivanjanam as the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.
- The budget session is going on in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. In this (March 30) a discussion was held on subsidy requests related to municipal administration and drinking water supply department. Following this, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Minister KN Nehru issued new announcements.
- 24x7 drinking water scheme will be implemented on pilot basis in 9 Corporations and 3 Municipalities at a cost of Rs.420 crore.
- Construction and demolition waste processing plants will be set up in 6 Municipal Corporations including Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem and Trichy at an estimated cost of Rs.22.50 crore.
- New bus stands will be set up in 3 Corporations and 9 Municipalities at a cost of Rs.174 crore.
- 25 new modern gas crematoriums will be set up by all urban local bodies at a cost of Rs.52.50 crore.
- 150 crores will be used to construct new buildings for municipal and municipal schools (c) and renovate old school buildings.
- Allocation of Rs.60.90 crore for development of 100 parks and green natural resources in Municipal Corporations and Municipalities for public recreation.
- Allocation of Rs.288 crore for upgradation of 400 km long earthen roads in Municipal Corporations and Municipalities to tarpaulin, concrete road or paver block roads.
- Drinking water projects will be carried out in 20 municipalities at an estimated cost of Rs.345 crore.
- In 10 Municipalities Rs. 25 crores to construct 10 bus stations with all infrastructure facilities.
- In order to protect the ground water, in the first phase, the waste water from 20 municipalities will be recycled at a cost of Rs 50 crore.
- 100 water bodies will be upgraded in municipalities at a cost of Rs.50 crore.
- Water samples will be tested at a cost of Rs.7 lakh to ensure safe supply of drinking water to the public.
- The Ministry of Defense today (March 30, 2023) signed a contract worth Rs 9,100 crore to manufacture the upgraded Akash missile and 12 plains detection radar weapons for the Army to achieve the goal of a self-reliant India.
- A contract for procurement of upgraded Akash Missile (AWS) has been awarded to Bharat Dynamic Limited. Its value is Rs.8,160 crore. These weapons are to be procured for the Air Defense Forces of the Army. It will have upgraded missiles and ground support infrastructure.
- The Akash Weapon System (AWS) is an air defense system capable of striking short-range ground-to-air targets.
- It was designed on behalf of the Defense Research and Development Agency. AWS has been upgraded, designed and developed to counter airborne intrusions and threats. These are procured for military use especially in the northern borders of the country.
- In a move to strengthen the goal of a self-reliant India, the Ministry of Defense today (March 30, 2023) signed a deal worth Rs 19,600 crore with domestic shipbuilders to procure 11 modern deep-sea patrol vessels and 6 missile carriers.
- Goa Shipbuilding (GSL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilding (GRSE) to procure 11 next-generation deep-sea patrol vessels for Rs. 9,781 crore worth the contract has been signed. Out of these 11 vessels, 7 vessels are being designed and manufactured locally by GSL and 4 vessels by GRSE. The vessels are expected to be fully designed and delivered by September 2026.
- Cochin Shipbuilding Corporation (CSL) to design Next Generation Missile Vessels (NGMEs) for Rs. 9,805 crore worth of contract has been signed. The vessels are expected to be completed and commissioned in March 2027. These ships can carry out attacks at high speed with heavy weapons. These are capable of precision hitting enemy ships and specific targets.
- The Ministry of Defense has entered into an agreement with Bell on March 30, 2023 to procure 13 LYNX-U2 attack control systems for the Navy worth Rs 1,700 crore to achieve the goal of a self-reliant India. These 13 LYNX-U2 attack control systems are completely in-house designed.
- This 4th generation equipment is to be installed on the new generation Coastal Patrol Vessel being manufactured at Shipbuilding Corporation, Goa.
