Airports Authority of India approves six additional airports in Ahmedabad and Thiruvananthapuram
- Airports Authority of India has given permission to operate, maintain and develop six airports namely Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangalore 50 years ago under public private partnership. This approval has been given for the year 2020-2021. The terms of the six-airport transaction were decided by an empowered committee of secretaries headed by the NITI Aayog CEO.
- In order to ensure greater competition and provide more flexibility to the bidders, the following norms were followed. No prior experience in airport maintenance is required, there is no limit to the number of airports a participating company can bid on, and fares per passenger are set as the bidding parameter instead of revenue sharing.
- According to Labor Force Report 2021-22, there is a high participation of women workers in the agriculture sector. According to this, 62.9 percent of women work in agricultural sector.
- Similarly, 11.2 percent of those working in the manufacturing sector are women. 5.9 percent of those working in commercial and catering establishments are women. 13.6 percent of women work in other service sectors.
- The Central Government is taking various measures to increase the share of women in the labor force and is taking proactive measures to create quality employment. In addition to providing equal employment for women and creating a safe working environment, various aspects have been included in labor laws.
- In particular, provision of maternity leave of 12 to 26 weeks, where 50 and above female workers are employed, provision of compulsory care for their children under 3 years of age, and provision of adequate facilities to engage women in night work are included.
- The Central Government provides training through Women Technical Training Institutes, National and Regional Vocational Training Institutes to improve the work-related skills of women employees.
- In the Labor Survey 2021-22 on the share of female employees in government sectors, the state of Haryana has the highest share of women above 15 years of age at 19.1 per cent.
