Allocation of Rs 6.30 Crores to set up International Turtle Conservation and Rehabilitation Center in Chennai

  • The coast of Tamil Nadu is the main habitat of Chittamai, one of the turtle species that lays its eggs and breeds in coastal areas. It was announced in the Assembly that an International Turtle Conservation and Rehabilitation Center would be set up in Chennai to promote turtle conservation efforts.
  • Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs 6.30 crore to set up an international turtle conservation and rehabilitation center at the Kindi Children's Park in Chennai. Forest Department Secretary Supriya Sahu has issued an order for this.
MOU between Tamil Nadu - Odisha Ministry of Sports
  • A memorandum of understanding regarding sports development was signed with Odisha State Sports Ministry officials in the presence of Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who went to watch the 15th Hockey World Cup matches and visit sports facilities in the state.
  • The agreement will pave the way for sharing and development of sports infrastructure between the two states. Thus, the two states will provide proper cooperation to train athletes in a world-class manner, develop international sports academies, sports training centers, special centers, sports complexes and other modern facilities, develop world-class athletes and conduct international sports competitions.
"Scotch Gold Award" for Chennai Police
  • While 'SCOCH group' has announced for the SCOCH award for the year 2022, the action plan running in the Chennai Metropolitan Police Department is Kaval Karagala (abandoned on the roadsides, and mentally challenged persons are rescued and cared for in shelters,
  • Also, through this program, volunteer-assisted cremation and dignified burial of unclaimed unclaimed bodies, Chipi (special program for government school students to guide students and create a law-abiding young society), Anandam (training of female constables to balance work and family life) project), GALASH (a psychological rehabilitation program for policemen suffering from suicidal thoughts and alcoholism), Police Leave app (an app project for policemen to take all types of leave easily) were proposed and forwarded for award.
  • This Scotch Award was conducted in 3 stages namely preliminary stage, semi-final stage and final stage. Expert committees appointed for this purpose evaluated all the action plans.
  • All action plans were explained in detail by the Chennai Metropolitan Police for them. Also, online voting was organized on behalf of the public, so the public also voted. In this last semi-final round, Police Arms, Sculptor and Happiness projects qualified.
  • Order of Merit-2022 Award was made available for these 3 projects in the final round held on Jan.20. And finally, "Policemen" qualified in all examination level and got Skoch Award-2022 - Gold for POLICE & SAFETY -2022, which has brought pride to Chennai Metropolitan Police Department.
