GST collection in December 2022 is Rs.1.5 lakh crore

  • The GST for last December was Rs. 1,49,507 crore has been collected. Of this, Central GST is Rs.26,711 crores, State GST is Rs. 33,357 crore, the consolidated GST collection was Rs.78,434 crore.
  • Consolidated GST includes Rs 40,263 crore as import duty. Similarly, Rs.11,005 crore has been collected as cess tax. The GST collection in December last year was Rs.1.3 lakh crore. And in comparison last month's collection is 15 percent higher.
  • It is the 10th month in a row that GST has collected more than Rs.1.4 lakh crore, including last month. In the current financial year last April Rs 1.68 lakh crore, May Rs 1.41 lakh crore, June Rs 1.4 lakh crore, July Rs. 1.49 lakh crore, Rs.1.44 lakh crore in August, Rs. 1.48 lakh crore, Rs 1.52 lakh crore in October and Rs 1.46 lakh crore in November.
38 percent increase in gratuity for government employees and teachers - Chief Minister M.K.Stal's announcement
  • This government is fully aware of the role of government officials and teachers who dedicate themselves in the great task of bringing the government programs to the people and continues to protect their welfare.
  • In this regard, this government has decided to implement this hike from 1.1.2023 after considering the request of the government officials and teachers continuously for the increase in subsidized rate.
  • According to this, the current discount rate of 34 percent will be increased to 38 percent. Around 16 lakh government officials, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners will benefit from this.
  • Although this hike will cost the government an additional cost of Rs 2359 crore per annum, the government has shouldered this financial burden in the interest of government employees, teachers and pensioners.
Formation of committee to study equal pay for equal work
  • A committee will be set up under the leadership of Finance Secretary (Expenditure), Principal Secretary of School Education and Director of Elementary Education to examine the demands of teachers who are struggling for equal work and equal pay and make appropriate recommendations.
  • The Government has decided to consider the recommendations of this committee and take action on this demand.
Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha takes over as Chief of the Western Wing of the Indian Air Force
  • Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha assumed command of the Western Wing of the Indian Air Force on January 1, 2023. Trained at the National Defense Academy, Pune, he joined the Indian Air Force in June 1985.
  • He is an alumnus of the Wellington Military Officers Training College. He has more than 4500 hours of flying experience. During his 37 years of service, he has held many important leadership positions. 
  • This included a wide range of responsibilities, including Chief of Staff of the Fighter Wing, Training Co-ordinating Officer at Royal Air Force Base, UK. He has received 'Vishist Seva Medal' and 'Athi Vishist Seva Medals'.
  • Air Marshal S. who retired on December 31, 2022 after more than 39 years of distinguished service in the Indian Air Force. Notably, after Prabhakaran, Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha has taken over as the Chief of the Western Wing of the Air Force.
