லோஹ்ரி பண்டிகை / LOHRI FESTIVAL

• ஹரியானா மற்றும் பஞ்சாப் மக்களால், குறிப்பாக இந்து மற்றும் சீக்கிய சமூகத்தினரால், லோஹ்ரி என்ற புனிதமான திருவிழா மிகவும் ஆடம்பரமாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. 
• லோஹாடி அல்லது லால் லோய் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படும் லோஹ்ரி மகர சங்கராந்திக்கு ஒரு நாள் முன்னதாக விழுகிறது. இந்த நாளில், மக்கள் தங்கள் வீட்டிற்கு வெளியே அல்லது திறந்த வெளியில் விறகு மற்றும் மாட்டு சாணம் பிண்ணாக்குகளால் தீ மூட்டி, எரியும் நெருப்புக்கு எள், வெல்லம், கஜக், ரெட்டியா மற்றும் வேர்க்கடலை ஆகியவற்றைச் சுற்றி பரிக்ரமா செய்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் பயிர்களை அறுவடை செய்து, அதைப் பயன்படுத்தி செய்யப்பட்ட போக்கை நெருப்புக்கு வழங்குகிறார்கள்.

லோஹ்ரி ஏன் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது?

• லோஹ்ரி என்பது பயிர்களை விதைப்பது மற்றும் அறுவடை செய்வது தொடர்பான ஒரு சிறப்பு பண்டிகையாகும். இது வெப்பமான காலநிலையின் வருகையையும் கொண்டாடுகிறது. 
• ஏனெனில் மகர சங்கராந்திக்குப் பிறகு, லோஹ்ரிக்கு ஒரு நாளுக்குப் பிறகு, இரவுகள் குறைந்து, நாட்கள் நீளமாகின்றன. இந்த பண்டிகை கொண்டாட்டங்களின் போது எரியும் நெருப்பு, அதே கருத்தை பிரதிபலிக்கிறது.
• லோஹ்ரியில், மக்கள் புதிய பயிரை வழிபடுகிறார்கள், தங்கள் வீட்டிற்கு வெளியே நெருப்பை ஏற்றி, சூரிய கடவுள் (சூரிய தேவ்தா) மற்றும் நெருப்புக் கடவுள் (அக்னி தேவ்தா) ஆகியோருக்கு தங்கள் நன்றியைத் தெரிவிக்கிறார்கள் மற்றும் வரவிருக்கும் ஆண்டில் நல்ல பயிர் விளைச்சலை விரும்புகிறார்கள். 
• லோஹ்ரி நெருப்புக்கு அறுவடை செய்யப்பட்ட பயிர்கள், ரேவடி, நிலக்கடலை, வெல்லம், கஜாக் மற்றும் வேர்க்கடலை ஆகியவற்றைக் கொண்டு தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட போக்ஸை வழங்குகிறார்கள். 
• கூடுதலாக, லோஹ்ரி கொண்டாட்டங்களில் மக்கள் பாரம்பரிய பாடல்களைப் பாடி, தோலின் துடிப்புகளுக்கு நடனமாடும் போது நெருப்பை (பரிக்கிரமா) சுற்றி வருவார்கள்.

ENGLISH

• The auspicious festival of Lohri is celebrated with much pomp by the people of Haryana and Punjab, especially from the Hindu and Sikh community. Also known as Lohadi or Lal Loi, Lohri falls a day before Makar Sankranti. 
• On this day, people light a fire outside their homes or in open spaces with wood and cow dung cakes and offer sesame seeds, jaggery, gajak, rewdi and peanuts to the lit bonfire while doing Parikrama around it. They also harvest the crops and offer the bhog made using the same to the fire.

Why is Lohri celebrated?

• Lohri is a special festival which is related to the sowing and harvesting of crops. It also celebrates the arrival of warmer weather because after Makar Sankranti, a day after Lohri, the nights get shorter, and the days get longer. The bonfire, lit during the celebrations of this festival, represents the same idea.
• On Lohri, people worship the new crop, light a fire outside their homes, express their gratitude to the Sun God (Surya Devta) and Fire God (Agni Devta), and wish for good crop production in the upcoming year. 
• They also offer bhog made with the harvested crops, rewadi, groundnut, jaggery, gajak, and peanuts to the Lohri bonfire. Additionally, the Lohri celebrations involve people going around the fire (Parikrama) while singing traditional songs and dancing to the beats of dhol.
