The first Coastal Defense Conference in which 4 countries including India will participate has started in Chennai
- Defense Ministry Secretary Krithar Aramane on Thursday inaugurated a 2-day conference on Coastal Security in which the Coast Guards of India, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Mauritius will participate.
- The Colombo Defense Consortium was launched in 2011 to ensure security in the Indian Ocean. It currently has 4 countries namely India, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Mauritius as its members. Bangladesh has now joined as an observer.
- Discussions and exchange of views will be held on the theme of 'Joint Efforts for Coastal Security'. The conference will continue on Friday.
- On behalf of Municipal Administration and Drinking Water Supply Department, administrative permission has been given to implement drinking water scheme in 363 rural residential areas in 136 village panchayats under 6 panchayat unions namely Tuticorin, Ottapidaram, Kayathar, Kovilpatti, Pudur, Vlathikulam in Tuticorin district.
- The project is designed to provide a total of 16.57 million liters of drinking water at the rate of 55 liters per person per day. In this, the water will be taken from the water well and treated at the internal treatment plant to be set up in Sethuramalingapuram, and drinking water will be provided to the people.
- 3.05 lakh people will be benefited through this project and 92,407 new drinking water pipe connections will be provided.
- Also, 115 residences in 9 panchayats of RK Pettai, Wanganur, GCS Kandigai and SVGipuram under RK Pettai union will benefit Cherakkanur, Thadur, S. Agraharam, Karthikeyapuram, Kannikhapuram village panchayats under Thiruthani panchayat union in Tiruvallur district. The plan is to be implemented.
- 2.76 million water will be drawn daily through 6 suction wells and will be supplied to the residences using Kosasthalai River as the water source.
- Through this, 42 thousand people will be benefited and 255 new water pipe connections will be provided. The total estimated amount for these projects is Rs.560.30 crore. The project has been given administrative approval.
- The Finance Ministry has announced that the GST tax collection of Rs 1,45,867 crore has been collected in the month of November. This is 11% more than November last year.
- In the collection of November, the GST revenue of the central government is Rs 25,681 crore, the GST revenue of the state governments is Rs 32,651 crore, the combined GST revenue of the central and state governments is Rs 77,103 crore and the cess tax revenue is Rs 10,433 crore.
- 8,551 crore GST tax has been collected in Tamil Nadu in the month of November. GST collection in Tamil Nadu has increased by 10% compared to November last year. 209 crore GST has been collected in Puducherry in the month of November.
- GST collection in Puducherry state is 22 percent higher than November last year. As far as states are concerned, Maharashtra topped the list of highest revenue earners in November with a GST revenue of Rs 21,611 crore.
- The monthly GST revenue has crossed Rs 1.4 lakh for the 9th consecutive month. Central GST received Rs 59,678 crore and state GST Rs 61,189 crore in November after regular distribution.
- Apart from these, the central government has released Rs.17 thousand crore as GST compensation to the states and union territories in November.
- The G-20 organization was launched in 1999. It includes the United States, Russia, England, Germany, France, Japan, China, India, Canada, Turkey, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Mexico, Italy, Indonesia, Brazil, Australia, Argentina and 19 countries and the European Union.
- The leadership of this organization changes every year. Indonesia has led the way for the past year. Following this, India officially assumed the leadership of the G-20 organization.
- Central Bank Digital Currency, a branch organization of the Reserve Bank of India, has planned to issue a digital currency to facilitate the management of the country's money flow. The digital currency 'e-Rupee' comes in two forms. First is token based and second is account based.
- A token-based digital currency is like a bank note. That is, the holder of this token owns its value. An account-based system requires the digital currency holder to keep records of balances and transactions.
- Subsequently, RBI introduced the 'Digital Currency' system on an experimental basis. In the first phase, four banks namely State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank and IDFC Bank are issuing digital currency. Later Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, HCFC and Kotak Mahindra banks will be allowed to issue digital currency.
- In the first phase, digital currency was introduced in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar. It will be released in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Lucknow, Patna, Shimla.
- Just like the Indian Rupee has the symbol '₹', the digital currency has been coined the symbol 'e₹'. The wholesale digital rupee is coded 'e₹-W' for the wholesale market and the retail digital rupee is coded 'e₹-R' for the retail market.
- The list of the best government schools in Tamil Nadu for the academic year 2020-21 has been released. 114 schools have been selected from 38 districts in Tamil Nadu with 3 schools each. 114 schools have been selected with 3 schools per district.
- Chief Minister Mukherjee Stalin had announced that an award would be given to the best schools in the name of Prof. Anbazhagan. It has also been said that the award will be given to schools that demonstrate multifaceted development in learning, teaching, leadership and teacher skill development.
- In a major boost to the Indian Coast Guard's patrolling operations in the Eastern Region, Director General of the Coast Guard VS Pathania inaugurated a new squadron, 840, equipped with new light modern helicopters.
- This light helicopter MK3 has been manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautical Company based on the Central Government's Self-Reliance India program to achieve self-reliance in helicopter production.
- The new squadron will enhance the capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard in the security critical waters off the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
- Fisheries Department organized a national level webinar on “Development of Processed Fish and Fish Products” on November 29, 2022 as part of Vimithya Amrita Festival celebrations.
- In the program chaired by Mr. Jatindra Nath Swain, Secretary, Fisheries, Central Government, Entrepreneurs Fisheries Associations, Fisheries Officers, Fisheries Officers of various States and Union Territories, Teachers of State Agricultural, Veterinary and Fisheries Universities, Fisheries Research Centres, Fisheries Cooperative Officers, Scientists, Students, all over the country participated in the event. - The Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) signed an MoU with the Electricity Finance Corporation (PFC) on November 29, 2022, as per the Public Sector Undertakings Evaluation System for the financial year 2022-23 for Central Public Sector Undertakings.
