• உலகின் மிகக் கொடிய நோய்களில் ஒன்று எய்ட்ஸ். எச்.ஐ.வி., (ஹியூமன் இம்யுனோ டெபிஷியன்சி வைரஸ்) எனும் வைரசால் ஏற்படுகிறது. இது மனித உடலில் உள்ள ரத்த வெள்ளை அணுக்களை அழிக்கிறது.

History

• The World Health Organization established World AIDS Day on December 1, 1988. This day was created to inform local people, governments, international organizations, private organizations and people about AIDS and HIV.
• When World AIDS Day was created in 1988, only 90,000 to 1.50 lakh people were infected with HIV. In the next 20 years, 3.30 crore people worldwide became infected with HIV. Since the discovery of the HIV virus in 1981, 2.50 crore people have died due to this disease.
