9th Kabaddi League Series - Jaipur clinched the title for the 2nd time

  • The 9th season of the Kabaddi League started on October 7. A total of 12 teams played each other twice. In the final match of this series, Jaipur Pink Panthers led by Sunil Kumar and Puneri Baldan led by Basel Atrasali clashed.
  • In the final, Jaipur won the match 33 - 29 at the end of the game and won the title of champion for the second time. In the first season of the Pro Kabaddi series held in 2014, the Jaipur team won the title. After that, it lost in the finale of the 4th season in 2016. Subsequently, Jaipur team has won the trophy for the second time after about 8 years.
FIFA WC 2022 - Croatia beats Morocco to third place
  • While the final match of the Qatar World Cup football series will be held tomorrow, the match for the third place was held today. The teams of Morocco and Croatia clashed in this. In the end, Croatia beat Morocco 2-1. With this victory, Croatia took the third place.
25th Meeting of Eastern Zone Council
  • The 25th meeting of Eastern Zone Council was held yesterday in Kolkata, West Bengal. The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah and was attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soran, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and Odisha Minister Pradeep Amat and 5 state Home Ministry officials.
  • In this meeting, issues of illegal border infiltration, cross-border smuggling and damage to India-Bangladesh border were discussed.
  • Inter-state transport facilities, water distribution etc. were also discussed. Also discussed were measures to control Maoist movement and Maoist dominance in Jharkhand-Odisha and West Bengal.
  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik abstained from attending the Eastern Zone Council meeting.
48th GST Council Meeting
  • The 48th GST Council meeting was chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman through video. In this, various state finance ministers and officials participated.
  • Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan participated on behalf of Tamil Nadu Government. Some changes were made in the levy and ceiling in this meeting.
  • Taxation of SUVs has been discussed and 22 percent cess has been implemented. It has been clarified that 22% compensation cess will be applicable for SUV motor vehicle fulfilling all 4 conditions.
  • The minimum threshold of tax amount for suing under GST has been raised from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore.
  • The Union Government has issued an order to register cases in cases of fraud involving more than Rs 5 crore. But the GST Act currently sets the limit at 1 crore.
  • The cumulative amount has been reduced from 25 to 100 per cent, which currently ranges from 50 to 150 per cent of the tax amount, except for the offense of issuing fake bills without supply of goods or services or both. The penalty related to fake bill will continue to be Rs.1 crore.
  • It has been decided to reduce the duty on bran and husk from 5 percent to nil.
  • The duty on ethyl alcohol supplied to refineries for blending with motor spirit (petrol) has been reduced from 18 per cent to 5 per cent.
  • It has been announced that 18% tax will continue on Jaggery and different types of pancakes.
  • It has been decided to allow intra-state delivery of goods by e-commerce operators from October 1, 2023.
  • The incentive given to banks by the Union Government under the scheme to encourage RuPay credit cards and PIM UPI for low-value transactions is not taxable. No new goods are subject to GST.
  • There is now no refund procedure for non-GST registrants in case of service defects. Therefore, the GST Council recommended to amend the CGST Rules 2017 to bring about a change in this
Blind T20 World Cup 2022 - India 3rd time champions
  • India and Bangladesh team clashed in the T20 World Cup final for the blind. In this match held at Bangalore Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Indian team played in the final for the 3rd time.
  • Batting first, the Indian blind team scored 277 runs in 20 overs. Sunil Ramesh scored 136 runs off 63 balls and Ajay Kumar scored 100 runs off 50 balls. After this, the Bangladesh team scored only 157 runs at the end of 20 overs and lost by 120 runs.
