New Prime Minister of Malaysia sworn in
- The general election for 222 parliamentary constituencies in Malaysia was held on the 19th. In this, Mahathir Mohamad, who was the Prime Minister for 24 years, lost his deposit in his own constituency and suffered a crushing defeat.
- While 112 seats are required for a minimum majority, the opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim-led Faith Alliance has won 82 seats and the Mukhaideen Yasin-led National Alliance has won 73 seats.
- In this case, King Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah declared the opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim as the new Prime Minister considering that he has majority support. Following this, Anwar was sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister of the country.
- The UN has condemned the heavy repression of the Iranian government to suppress the anti-government protests. The Human Rights Commission passed the resolution on Thursday.
- Brought by Germany and Iceland and sponsored by 25 countries, the resolution called for the formation of a fact-finding commission to conduct an impartial investigation into police abuses during the protests.
- Masha Amini (22), who was arrested last September by Iran's suspected cultural police for not wearing a head-covering hijab, died in custody. After that, violent protests broke out across the country against the government's dress code. 416 people including 51 children are said to have died.
- In the ongoing World Cup series, Portugal won the match against Ghana by 3-2. In this match, Portugal's star player Ronaldo scored in the 65th minute. This made Ronaldo the first player to score in 5 World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022).

- He headed Pakistan's two main intelligence agencies, the ISI and the Military Intelligence Agency. Apart from him, Lieutenant General Shahir Shamshad Mirza has been selected as the Commander of the Joint Forces.

- The country's total coal production has reached 448 million tonnes in October 2022. This is 18% higher than the same period last year. Coal production of Indian Coal also increased by 17%. The Union Coal Ministry plans to have 30 million tonnes of coal in stock by the end of November 2022.
- By March 31, 2023, it plans to stockpile 45 million tonnes of coal in thermal power plants. It also plans to stockpile coal near the mine. In the first 7 months of this year there was a growth of 9% in the average daily loading of coal.
- This helped increase the stock in power plants. The Ministry of Electricity has also made efforts to transport coal through rail and road.
- Union Minister for Roads and Highways Mr. Nitin Gadkari has said that approval has been given to upgrade the two-lane road on the national highway between Hyderabad and Bhubalapatnam in Telangana State at a cost of Rs.136 crore.
- Similarly, an allocation of Rs 436 crore has been approved for construction of a unique bridge across the Krishna river and rehabilitation and upgrading of the highway (NH-167K) in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana.
- With this, the travel distance between Hyderabad to Tirupati, Nandiala, Chennai and other cities will be reduced by 80 km.
