Arvind Virmani appointed as member of 'Nidi Aayog'

  • Prime Minister Modi has approved the appointment of Arvind Virmani, who served as Chief Economic Adviser in the Union Finance Ministry from 2007-2009, as a full-time member of NITI Aayog.
  • His appointment is effective immediately. Virmani will hold this post till further orders. Arvind Virmani served on the Reserve Bank's Technical Advisory Committee on Monetary Policy from 2013 - 2016 and served as a Director at the International Monetary Fund until 2012.
TVS, agreement with British company
  • TVS SCS has extended its contract with Dennis Eagle, a UK-based waste collection vehicle manufacturer. This agreement for after market service has been extended for another 5 years. 
  • Besides, TVS said that it will continue to supply the necessary vehicle equipment to Dennis Eagle. No word on the value of the extended contract has been disclosed. However, it has been leaked that it could be Rs 800 crore.
India has been given the leadership of G-20
  • The conference of the G-20 alliance, which includes the developed and developing countries of the world, was held in Bali, Indonesia, in the last two days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Bali to participate in it. 
  • There, he met and talked with leaders including US President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron.
  • Apart from assuming the leadership of the 'G-20' organization, India is also hosting the next year's G-20 summit. Next year, on September 9 and 10, the G-20 summit will be held in New Delhi. 
  • Subsequently, India was handed over the leadership of the G-20 as the final event on the second day of the Bali Conference. Indonesian President Joko Widodo handed over the chairmanship of the conference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 
  • In this case, from December 1st, India is going to assume the leadership of the G-20 organization.
  • In the concluding session of the conference, Prime Minister Modi said: India is going to lead the G-20 organization at a time when problems such as geo-political tension, economic recession, rising food and fuel prices, and the impact of the Corona epidemic are at their peak.
NASA launches Artemis-1 rocket to send humans to the moon
  • In 1969, the American space agency NASA set a record by sending humans to the moon for the first time through its 'Apollo' program. Then, now 50 years later, the Artemis-1 project is underway to send humans back to the moon.
  • The Artemis rocket was scheduled to be launched for the first time on August 29. However, the launch was aborted due to a technical failure in the 3rd engine of the space shuttle and a problem with refueling.
  • After that, the launch was postponed for the 2nd time on September 3 again due to a fuel leak. In this case, the Artemis-1 rocket was successfully launched from the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 12.17 pm as the weather conditions were favorable for the launch of the rocket.
  • The launch was delayed by 45 minutes after it was depressurized due to a fuel leak. 8 minutes after launch, the engine in the core of the rocket separated and went away alone.
2-day 'C-Vigil 2022' security mission in coastal districts
  • As an echo of the Mumbai attacks, Tamil Nadu coastal districts are being called 'Sagar Gavach' and 'C-Vigil'. Accordingly, 'C-Vigil 2022' was held in coastal states from 6 am to 6 pm yesterday. 
  • Along with the Coast Guard Group, the Indian Navy, Indian Guard, Central Industrial Security Force, National Defense Force, Fisheries, Lighthouse Authority, Intelligence Division, Q Wing Intelligence, Department of Maritime Affairs, Citizenship, Customs, Forest, ONGC, Chennai Port Trust are participating in this security exercise. Safety drills were conducted.
Asian 'Airgun' Shooting 2022
  • The 15th Asian 'Airgun' Shooting Championship Series is underway in South Korea. In this, Isha Singh (248.5 points) and Manu Bagher (247.6) of India took the first two places in the ranking competition of 10m, 'Air Pistol' category for junior women.
  • In the next final, Manu Bhagar was brilliant and won the gold medal 17-15. Isha won silver. India's Balak (252.6 points) and Ritham Sangwan (251.0) won the top two positions in the women's 10m air pistol ranking competition. In the next final, Asathiya Rhythm Sangwan won 16-8 to clinch the gold.
  • India and South Korea clashed in the men's 10m 'Air Pistol' category final. The Indian team consisting of Shiva Norwal, Vijayveer Sidhu and Naveen played tremendously and won the gold with a score of 16-14.
  • India and Uzbekistan clashed in the final of the Junior Men's 10m 'Air Pistol' category. The Indian team consisting of Samrat Rana, Varun Tomar and Sagar won the gold medal with a score of 16-2. India has won 21 golds so far in this series.
Signing of MoU between International Financial Services Center Authority, Reserve Bank of India
  • The International Financial Services Center Authority and the Reserve Bank of India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in supervisory and regulatory functions in their respective areas. The agreement will facilitate technical cooperation and exchange of information.
  • The Center for International Financial Services is responsible for supervision and control of authorized banks and non-banking financial institutions. Central Bank and Reserve Bank of India are involved in similar monitoring and regulatory activities.
  • This MoU creates opportunities for cooperation between the two regulators, thereby strengthening the safety, stability and stability of their respective financial ecosystems, and fosters an environment conducive to business growth and economic development.
