Puducherry University Vice-Chancellor Awarded at Bangladesh International Conference
- An international conference on 'Art and Anthropological Contexts and Issues' was organized by Rajshahi University Art Field, Bangladesh. Puducherry University Vice-Chancellor Gurmeet Singh was given the 'Nawab Bahadur Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury' award.
- The award is given for international contributions in the field of excellence in governance, academic work and skill materials research.
- The award was given in the presence of Bangladesh Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Golam Shabir Sattar, Islamic Republic of Iran Foreign Affairs Cultural Coordinator Syed Hasan Sehad Dhaka and representatives of the United States, France, India, Iran, Nepal, Pakistan, Turkey and Tajikistan.
- The conference was organized in association with the Center for Policy Research, Dhaka under the chairmanship of its President Akbaruddin.
Billie Jean King Cup Tennis Tournament 2022
- The Billie Jean King Cup Women's Team Tennis World Championship Final was held in Glasgow, England. Australia, the 7-time champion, played for the 19th time and Switzerland for the 3rd time.
- In the singles, Belinda Bencic defeated Aussie Ayla Domljanovic in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Similarly, in another singles match, Swiss player Jill Theigmann beat Aussie Storm Saunders 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. So the Swiss took a 2-0 lead.
- The final doubles match between Swiss players Viktorija Kolubic and Simana Waltert and Aussies Priscilla Hahn and Ellen Perez/Sam Stozer was therefore abandoned. Switzerland also won the World Champions Cup for the first time. Gold medals were awarded to Swiss women and silver medals to Aussies.
World Bank Report on Urban Infrastructure
- According to a report released by the World Bank, Rs 68,21,640 crore will be required over the next 15 years to meet the rapidly growing urban population in India and develop their needs and infrastructure.
- An average requirement of Rs 4.46 lakh crore per annum. However, the current expenditure is only Rs.1.43 lakh crore. By 2036, 60 crore people will live in urban cities in India. This is about 40% of the country's population. This will put additional pressure on urban infrastructure.
- In particular, the need for more clean drinking water, reliable electricity, efficient and safe road transport, etc. will force people to provide quality in various infrastructures.
- The election for the Indian Taekwondo Federation was held today at the Indian Olympic Association office in Delhi. Chancellor of Wales University and President of Tamil Nadu Olympic Association Aishari Ganesh, who contested for the post of President, defeated Sanjay Supriya from Gujarat state and won by a landslide.
- 20 states voted in favor of Isari Ganesh and 15 states in favor of Sanjay Subriya. Also Isari K. Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-Presidents (5), Joint Secretaries (3) and members of Ganesh's team won and made a mark in the Indian Taekwondo Federation elections.
India's inflation rate eased to 8.39% in October
- India's headline inflation eased to 8.39 percent in October from 10.70 percent in September. Inflation increased over the same month last year due to rise in prices of mineral oils, foodstuff, crude petroleum and natural gas, chemicals and chemical products, base metals, electricity, textiles etc.

Mr. Gaurav Dwivedi has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati
- The President today appointed Mr. Gaurav Dwivedi as the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati as per the selection committee's recommendation. He will hold the post for five years. Hailing from Chhattisgarh, he joined the Indian Civil Service in 1995.
