Vande Bharat Train between Chennai - Mysore - Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated

  • Prime Minister Modi arrived in Bengaluru in a private flight yesterday morning. Karnataka Governor Thavarchand Khelat and Chief Minister Basavaraj Pomi welcomed him. Later, he drove to Vidhana Souda, where the Prime Minister paid his respects by garlanding the statues of Kanakadasa and Valmiki.
  • He went to Bangalore railway station and flagged off the Bharat Gaurav Kashi Darshan train service. Later he flagged off the Chennai-Mysore Vande Bharat train service, the 5th in the country and the first in South India.
  • Then Modi went to Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore by helicopter and paid Rs. He inaugurated the 2nd terminal built at a cost of 5 thousand crores. The Prime Minister visited the 2,55,645 sq. meter built terminal which looks like a hanging garden.
36th Convocation of Gandhigram Rural University
  • The 36th convocation ceremony of Gandhigram Rural University was held at Gandhi village, Dindigul district. University Chancellor KM Annamalai presided over the function. Vice-Chancellor Gurmeetsingh and Registrar Sivakumar welcomed.
  • Today (11.11.2022) Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the 36th convocation ceremony of Gandhigram Institute of Rural Education in Ndukkall. More than 2,300 students from the 2018-29 and 2019-20 batches received their degrees in this convocation ceremony. 
  • Following this, the Prime Minister awarded gold medals to the best passers and honorary doctorates to some deserving ones.
  • Prime Minister Modi, who participated as the special guest in the ceremony, presented degrees to gold medalist masters and undergraduate students and honorary doctorate degrees to music composer Ilayaraja and Mritanga Vidwan Umaiyalpuram Sivaraman.

Rajiv Gandhi murder case acquitted 6 convicts including Nalini, Murugan - Supreme Court Verdict
  • Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a human bomb in Sriperumbudur on 21 May 1991. 26 people including Nalini and Perariwalan who were arrested in this case were sentenced to death.
  • The Supreme Court, hearing the appeal filed against this, upheld the death sentence imposed on Chandan, Murugan, Nalini and Perarivalan and ordered that the death sentence of Jayakumar, Robert Pius and Ravichandran be reduced to life imprisonment.
  • Later, accepting the request of the Cabinet headed by former Chief Minister Karunanidhi, the then Governor ordered that Nalini's death sentence be commuted to life imprisonment. Similarly, in 2014, the Supreme Court commuted the death sentence of Murugan, Chandan and Perarivalan to life imprisonment.
  • Meanwhile, a bench of Supreme Court Justices Nageswara Rao, Ajay Rastogi and Hemant Gupta heard the petition filed by Perariwalan seeking his release and on May 18, using the exclusive power of the Supreme Court under Article 142 of the Constitution of India, Perariwalan was acquitted.
  • Similarly, Nalini and Ravichandran filed an appeal in the Supreme Court seeking their release. A bench of Supreme Court Justices PR Kawai and PV Nagaratna heard the case.
  • The bench comprising Justices PR Kavai and PV Nagaratna, who ruled in this case, said, "Nalini, Ravichandran, Chandan, Murugan, Robert Pius and Jayakumar, who have been in prison for more than 30 years, have used the exclusive powers of the Supreme Court. are set free".
CM Stalin started the scheme of providing free electricity connection to 50 thousand farmers in Tamil Nadu
  • In the second phase of Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated the scheme of providing free electricity connection to 50 thousand farmers in a ceremony held in Aravakurichi, Karur district.
  • At that time, the Chief Minister announced that new plans have been made to generate an additional 30,500 MW of electricity by 2030.
Reservation in Jharkhand increased to 77 percent - bill passed in assembly
  • Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress coalition rule is going on in Jharkhand under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soran. During the 2019 assembly election campaign, Hemant Soran promised to increase the amount of seat reservation.
  • The state cabinet approved the bill to implement it. Following this, a bill was passed in the assembly to increase the reservation level from 60 percent to 77 percent in this state.
  • According to the bill, the reservation for Dalits has been increased from 10 percent to 12 percent, the reservation for tribals from 26 percent to 28 percent, and the most backward from 14 percent to 15 percent. Also, 12 percent reservation will be given to other backward classes and 10 percent to economically weaker sections.
  • India won gold and bronze in the junior men's 10m air rifle category at the Asian Airgun Championship in South Korea on Friday. In this category, Divyansh Singh Panwar topped the list with 260.7 points, while another Indian, Srikarthik Sabariraj, came third with 258.8 points.
  • The silver medal went to South Korea's Bong Cheong. Likewise, in the men's 10m air rifle category, India's Kiran Ankush Jadhav lost the victory to South Korea's Park Hajun with 10-16 points and took the 2nd place and got the silver medal. In the ranking round of the same category, Rudrangsh Patil was ranked 4th and Arjun Babuta was ranked 7th.

  • Prime Minister inaugurated Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru today. The Prime Minister discussed with the officials the building structure of Terminal 2 of the airport.
  • The Prime Minister inspected the various basic facilities available at Terminal 2 of the Kempegowda International Airport. The Prime Minister also unveiled a short film on Terminal 2 of the airport.
  • Terminal 2 of Bangalore's Kempegowda International Airport has been developed at a cost of around Rs 5,000 crore. Currently 2-5 crore passengers are using it per annum, now 5-6 crore passengers will benefit from this new terminal. That is, the number of passengers has increased by almost 2 times.
  • Fulfilling the theme of “A Journey in the Park”, Terminal 2 has been set up to enhance the passenger experience in the park city of Bengaluru.
  • Along with the Prime Minister, Karnataka Chief Minister Mr. Basavaraj Bummy, Karnataka Governor Mr. Thawar Chand Khelat and Union Minister Pragalad Joshi attended the event.
PM unveils 108-meter-tall bronze statue of Mr Nadaprabhu Kempegowda in Bengaluru
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated a 108 meter tall bronze statue of Shri Nadaprabhu Kempegowda in Bengaluru. Prime Minister paid floral tributes to the statue. He also planted a sapling near it.
  • This statue was built to commemorate the contribution of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda who created the city of Bengaluru. Designed by Ram V Sudhar of Unity Statue fame, the statue is made of 98 tonnes of bronze and 120 tonnes of steel.
