• 2011 மக்கள் தொகை கணக்கெடுப்பின்படி, இந்தியாவில் கிராமப்புறங்களில் 15 முதல் 35 வயது வரையிலான 55 மில்லியன் தொழிலாளர்கள் உள்ளனர். 
• அதே நேரத்தில், 2020 ஆம் ஆண்டளவில் உலகம் 57 மில்லியன் தொழிலாளர்கள் பற்றாக்குறையை எதிர்கொள்ளும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது. 
• இது இந்தியா தனது மக்கள்தொகை உபரியை மக்கள்தொகை ஈவுத்தொகையாக மாற்றுவதற்கான வரலாற்று வாய்ப்பை வழங்குகிறது. 
• ஏழைக் குடும்பங்களைச் சேர்ந்த கிராமப்புற இளைஞர்களின் திறன்கள் மற்றும் உற்பத்தித் திறனை மேம்படுத்துவதன் மூலம், அனைவரையும் உள்ளடக்கிய வளர்ச்சிக்கான இந்தத் தேசிய நிகழ்ச்சி நிரலை இயக்க, கிராமப்புற மேம்பாட்டு அமைச்சகம் DDU-GKYஐ செயல்படுத்துகிறது.
• இந்தியாவின் கிராமப்புற ஏழைகள் நவீன சந்தையில் போட்டியிடுவதைத் தடுப்பதில், முறையான கல்வி மற்றும் சந்தைப்படுத்தக்கூடிய திறன்கள் போன்ற பல சவால்கள் உள்ளன.
•  DDU-GKY, வேலை வாய்ப்பு, தக்கவைப்பு, தொழில் முன்னேற்றம் மற்றும் வெளிநாட்டு வேலை வாய்ப்பு ஆகியவற்றுக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் அளித்து, உலகளாவிய தரநிலைகளுக்குத் தரப்படுத்தப்பட்ட பயிற்சித் திட்டங்களுக்கு நிதியளிப்பதன் மூலம் இந்த இடைவெளியைக் குறைக்கிறது.

• அனைத்து ஆய்வுகளும் புவி-குறியிடப்பட்ட, நேர முத்திரையிடப்பட்ட வீடியோக்கள் / புகைப்படங்களால் ஆதரிக்கப்படுகின்றன.

செயல்படுத்தல் மாதிரி

• DDU-GKY 3-அடுக்கு செயலாக்க மாதிரியைப் பின்பற்றுகிறது. MoRD இல் உள்ள DDU-GKY தேசிய அலகு கொள்கை உருவாக்கம், தொழில்நுட்ப ஆதரவு மற்றும் எளிதாக்கும் நிறுவனமாக செயல்படுகிறது. 
• DDU-GKY மாநில பணிகள் செயல்படுத்தல் ஆதரவை வழங்குகின்றன; மற்றும் திட்ட அமலாக்க முகமைகள் (PIAs) திறன் மற்றும் வேலை வாய்ப்பு திட்டங்கள் மூலம் திட்டத்தை செயல்படுத்துகின்றன.

• According to Census 2011, India has 55 million potential workers between the ages of 15 and 35 years in rural areas. At the same time, the world is expected to face a shortage of 57 million workers by 2020. 
• This presents a historic opportunity for India to transform its demographic surplus into a demographic dividend. The Ministry of Rural Development implements DDU-GKY to drive this national agenda for inclusive growth, by developing skills and productive capacity of the rural youth from poor families.
• There are several challenges preventing India’s rural poor from competing in the modern market, such as the lack of formal education and marketable skills. DDU-GKY bridges this gap by funding training projects benchmarked to global standards, with an emphasis on placement, retention, career progression and foreign placement.

• All program activities are subject to Standard Operating Procedures that are not open to interpretation by local inspectors. All inspections are supported by geo-tagged, time stamped videos/photographs.

Implementation Model

• DDU-GKY follows a 3-tier implementation model. The DDU-GKY National Unit at MoRD functions as the policy-making, technical support and facilitation agency. 
• The DDU-GKY State Missions provide implementation support; and the Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) implement the programme through skilling and placement projects.

Scale and Impact

• DDU-GKY is applicable to the entire country. 
• The scheme is being implemented currently in 13 States/UTs across 460 districts partnering currently with 82 PIAs covering 18 sectors.
