Cable bridge over river Krishna for the first time in the country at a cost of Rs.1,082 crore

  • For the first time in the country, a cable (wire) bridge will be constructed over the Krishna River to connect the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at a cost of Rs 1,082.56 crore. The central government has given approval for this.
  • The cable-stayed flyover will start at Someseela in Nagar Kurnool District, Telangana and end at Atmakur in Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh.
  • Through this bridge, you can enjoy the lush jungles, the beauty of the Krishna River, the Srisailam Dam and the hills at the same time. Also, tower-shaped cables will also be equipped with special electrical decorations at night.
  • Minister Gadkari said that if the construction of this bridge is completed, it will be the 2nd cable bridge in the world and the first cable bridge in the country.
Submarine INS Arihant successfully test-fired SLBM missile
  • A Submarine-Launched Missile (SLBM) was developed for use by the Indian Navy. It was tested from the nuclear-capable submarine INS Arihant. The SLBM, launched from the submarine INS Arihant, performed well and accurately hit and destroyed the target.
The annual inflation rate based on the Total Price Index was recorded at 10.7% in September
  • The annual inflation rate based on the Total Price Index stood at 10.7% (provisional) in September 2022 (higher than September 2021). It was 12.41% in August 2022.
  • The food index, which includes food items and food preparations, fell to 175.2 in September. The figure was 176.0 in August. Inflation rate based on food index decreased from 9.93% (August, 2022) to 8.08% (September, 2022).
  • Inflation increased over the same month last year due to rise in prices of mineral oils, foodstuff, crude petroleum and natural gas, chemicals and chemical products, base metals, electricity, textiles etc.
INS Dikkash participated in the 7th India-Brazil-South Africa Naval Exercise
  • The 7th India-Brazil – South Africa Naval Exercise was held at Port Elizabeth, South Africa from 10 to 12 October 2022. Missile-carrying INS Dikkash, Chetak helicopter and MARCOS special forces participated in this exercise on behalf of the Indian Navy.
  • The objective of the exercise is to strengthen maritime ties, enhance joint military training, combat maritime crime, and secure maritime communications.
