- தமிழகத்தில் அண்மைக்காலமாக பள்ளி, கல்லூரிகளில் மாணவிகளுக்கு எதிராக குற்றச்சம்பவங்கள் அதிகரித்து வருகின்றன. இதை கட்டுப்படுத்த காவல் துறையும், கல்லூரி நிர்வாகங்களும் பல முயற்சிகளையும் திட்டங்களையும் செயல்படுத்தி வருகின்றன.
- அதன் ஒரு பகுதியாக கோவை மாநகர பகுதிகளில் உள்ள கல்லூரி மாணவிகள் பாதுகாப்பிற்காக போலீஸ் அக்கா என்ற திட்டத்தை மாநகர காவல் ஆணையாளர் பாலகிருஷ்ணன் தொடங்கி வைத்தார்.
- கோவை மாநகர காவல் துறை சார்பில் குற்றச் செயல்களை குறைக்கவும் அது தொடர்பாக மக்களிடையே விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்தும் வகையில் பல்வேறு நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
- போலீஸாருக்கும் பொதுமக்களுக்குமான உறவை பலப்படுத்தவும், அதே சமயத்தில் குழந்தைகளை நல்வழிப்படுத்தவும் இந்த திட்டம் செயல்படுத்தப்படுவதாக விளக்கம் அளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
- தமிழகத்தில் முதல்முறையாக கல்லூரியில் பயிலும் மாணவிகள் பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் நன்மைக்காக போலீஸ் அக்கா என்ற திட்டம் தொடங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த திட்டத்தில் கோவையில் செயல்பட்டு வரும் அனைத்து கல்லூரிகளிலும் ஒரு மகளிர் காவலர் தொடர்பு அலுவலர் நியமிக்கப்படுவார்.
- சீரான இடைவெளியில் அவர் கல்லூரியில் பயிலும் மாணவிகளுடன் கலந்துரையாடல் நடத்துவார். அந்த கலந்துரையாடலில் மாணவிகளுக்கு ஏற்படும் உளவியல் மற்றும் பாலியல் ரீதியான பிரச்சினைகள் குறித்தும் அதற்கான தீர்வு, கருத்து மோதல்கள், போதைப் பொருட்கள் விற்பனை குறித்தும் விவாதிக்கப்படும்.
- இந்த திட்டத்தில் போலீஸ் அக்காவாக செயல்படுபவர் கல்லூரி மாணவிகளுக்கு நல்ல சகோதரியாக செயல்படுவார். மாணவிகளிடம் பெறப்படும் பாலியல் தகவல்களை ரகசியமாக பாதுகாத்து நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்ள அறிவுறுத்தப்படும்.
- கல்லூரி மாணவிகள் ஏதேனும் குற்றச் செயல்களில் பாதிக்கப்பட்டால் உடனடியாக எந்த தயக்கமுமின்றி அவரிடம் முறையிடலாம்.
- சட்டப்படியான நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொண்டு பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு நீதி கிடைக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பார் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

- As part of that, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Balakrishnan launched a project called Police Akka for the safety of college girls in Coimbatore areas. The Coimbatore Police Department is taking various measures to reduce crime and create awareness among the people.

- For the first time in Tamil Nadu, a project called Police Akka has been launched for the safety and welfare of college students. Under this scheme a Women Police Liaison Officer will be appointed in all the colleges functioning in Coimbatore.
- At regular intervals he would hold discussions with the students of the college. In that discussion, psychological and sexual problems faced by female students and their solution, conflicts of opinion and sale of drugs will be discussed.
- A police sister in this project will act as a good sister to college girls. It will be advised to protect the sexual information received from the students confidentially and take action.
- College students who are victims of any criminal activities can immediately appeal to him without any hesitation. It has been informed that legal action will be taken to get justice for the victims.
