• உலக சுற்றுலா தினம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் செப்டம்பர் 27 அன்று சுற்றுலாவின் முக்கியத்துவம் மற்றும் விழிப்புணர்வை பரப்புவதற்காக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.

நோக்கம்

• நிலையான வளர்ச்சிக்கான 2030 நிகழ்ச்சி நிரலில் கோடிட்டுக் காட்டப்பட்டுள்ள உலகளாவிய சவால்கள் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை பரப்புவதற்கும் சுற்றுலாத் துறை மேற்கொள்ளும் முயற்சிகளை அடிக்கோடிட்டுக் காட்டுவதற்கும் இந்த நாள் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.

வரலாறு

• சுற்றுலாவை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கான உலகளாவிய அமைப்பான ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் உலக சுற்றுலா அமைப்பு (UNWTO), 1980 முதல் செப்டம்பர் 27 அன்று உலக சுற்றுலா தினத்தை கொண்டாடுகிறது.
• UNWTO பொதுச் சபை, அக்டோபர் 1997 இல் துருக்கியில், உலக சுற்றுலா தின கொண்டாட்டத்தில் அமைப்பின் பங்காளியாக செயல்பட ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஒரு பிரதிநிதி நாட்டை நியமிக்க முடிவு செய்தது. 
• அது முதல் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் UNWTO இல் அதிகாரபூர்வ சுற்றுலா தின கொண்டாட்டம் ஒவ்வொரு நாட்டில் அரேங்கேற்றப்படுகிறது.

உலகளாவிய சுற்றுலாத் துறை

• இன்று உலகில் வேகமாக வளர்ந்து வரும் பொருளாதாரத் துறைகளில் ஒன்றாக சுற்றுலாத் துறை மாறியுள்ளது. கடந்த சில ஆண்டுகளில், சுற்றுலாத் துறை மிகப்பெரிய வளர்ச்சியை கண்டுள்ளது. கடந்த சில தசாப்தங்களில் சர்வதேச சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகளின் வருகை கணிசமாக அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
• அது 1950 இல் 25 மில்லியனிலிருந்து 2019 இல் 1.3 பில்லியனாக உயர்ந்துள்ளது. சுற்றுலா மூலம் ஈட்டிய வருவாய் 1950 இல் $2 பில்லியனில் இருந்து 2015 இல் $1,260 டிரில்லியனாக அதிகரித்துள்ளது. 
• சுற்றுலாத் துறையானது உலகளாவிய GDP-யில் 10% மதிப்புடையதாக மதிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதே சமூகத்தின் பதில் ஒரு பங்கு வேலை வாய்ப்பை சுற்றுலாத்துறை வழங்குகிறது. UNWTO 2030 வரை சுற்றுலாத் துறையில் 3% ஆண்டு வளர்ச்சியை எதிர்பார்க்கிறது.

இந்திய சுற்றுலா

• இந்திய வர்த்தகம் மற்றும் தொழில் கூட்டமைப்பின் (FICCI) அறிக்கையானது, இந்த ஆண்டின் தொடக்கத்தில், சுற்றுலா சந்தை FY27 க்குள் $125 பில்லியனாக வளரும் என்றும், 2029 ஆம் ஆண்டுக்குள் 53 மில்லியன் வேலை வாய்ப்புகளை உருவாக்கும் என்றும் மதிப்பிட்டுள்ளது. 
• உலகளாவிய சுற்றுலா மையமாக தன்னை நிலைநிறுத்திக் கொள்வதற்கான முக்கியமான படிகளை வகுத்து வருவதாகவும் தெரிவித்துள்ளது
• இந்த ஆண்டின் அதிகாரபூர்வ உலக சுற்றுலா தினக் கொண்டாட்டம் இந்தோனேசியாவின் பாலியில் நடைபெறும். இந்த ஆண்டு கொண்டாடப்படும் 42வது உலக சுற்றுலா தினம் 'சுற்றுலாவை மறுபரிசீலனை செய்தல்' என்ற தீம் கொண்டு செயல்படும்

• World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on September 27 to spread awareness and importance of tourism.

Purpose

• The day is celebrated to spread awareness about the global challenges outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to highlight the efforts of the tourism sector.

History

• The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), a global organization for the promotion of tourism, has been celebrating World Tourism Day on September 27 since 1980.
• The UNWTO General Assembly decided to nominate one representative country each year to act as a partner of the Organization in the celebration of World Tourism Day in Turkey in October 1997.
• Since then, every year at UNWTO an official Tourism Day celebration has been launched in each country.

Global Tourism Industry

• Tourism has become one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world today. In the past few years, the tourism sector has seen tremendous growth. International tourist arrivals have increased significantly in the last few decades.
• It has risen from 25 million in 1950 to 1.3 billion in 2019. Tourism revenue has grown from $2 billion in 1950 to $1,260 trillion in 2015.
• The tourism industry is estimated to be worth 10% of global GDP. Tourism provides a share of employment opportunities in response to the same community. UNWTO expects 3% annual growth in the tourism sector until 2030.

Indian tourism

• A report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) earlier this year estimated that the tourism market will grow to $125 billion by FY27 and create 53 million jobs by 2029.
• It also said that it is taking important steps to position itself as a global tourism hub
• This year's official World Tourism Day celebration will be held in Bali, Indonesia. This year's 42nd World Tourism Day will operate under the theme 'Rethinking Tourism'
