Retired Admiral Sunil Lanpa has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal by the Government of Singapore
- The Government of Singapore awarded the Meritorious Service Medal to former Chief of the Indian Navy, retired Admiral Sunil Lanpah. Singapore's Minister of Defense Dr. Ng Ng Hen presented the award in place of Singapore's President H.E.
- This award was given for the contribution made to strengthen the cooperation between India and Singapore in the field of defense and navy.
- A joint maritime exercise between Singapore and India was held in Visakhapatnam in October 2018 by the Indian Navy when Admiral Sunil Lamba was the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Navy.
- Under his leadership, various agreements were signed between the navies of the two countries. Retired Admiral Sunil Lamba, who went to Singapore to receive this award, met and talked to the country's Army Chief, Lt. Gen. Melvin Ong and Navy Commander Aaron Peng.
- Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Army have successfully conducted six test-fires of India's Quick-Acting Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM).
- The missile was fired from the Integrated Test Center at Chandipur near the Odisha coast as part of an evaluation test by the Indian Army. During these tests the objective of precision striking weapons with sophisticated guidance and control mechanisms was accomplished.
- After the success of the missile test, Defense Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh expressed appreciation to DRDO and the Indian Army.
- Tamil Nadu's Chennai Madhya Jail is ranked 3rd and Bangalore's Parapana Agrahara Jail is ranked 1st in terms of health and maintenance. Indian Police Research and Development Officers visited prisons across India to examine the condition, hygiene and maintenance of the prisons and selected the best prisons.
- Officials of 1,319 prisons from across India participated in it. Tamil Nadu's Chennai Central Jail is ranked 3rd. It is one of the oldest jails in India. It is located in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
- Bengaluru's Parapana Agrahara Jail has been ranked first as India's best jail. Also, Central Jail in Andhra Pradesh is ranked 2nd and Ahmedabad in Gujarat is ranked 6th.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a huge statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose near India Gate.
- To mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, which will be unveiled by the Prime Minister, will be installed at the same place where a hologram statue of Netaji was unveiled earlier this year on Parakram Diwas (January 23).
- The colossal statue of Netaji is carved out of granite stones weighing 280 metric tons.
- The statue is completely hand carved using traditional techniques and modern tools. A team of sculptors was formed under the leadership of Arun Yogiraj.
- After the unveiling of the Netaji statue, drones will fly in the sky and light up the event.
