Prime Minister Inaugurates International Dairy Federation's World Dairy Summit 2022 in Greater Noida

  • Prime Minister Modi presided over the International Dairy Federation's World Dairy Summit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Aditya Nath, dairy entrepreneurs, scientists and others participated in the conference.
  • Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Modi said: India continues to insist on the introduction of international coordinated vaccination programs for livestock diseases. We will solve this problem by 2025.
  • India's major contribution to global milk production is mainly due to its high footfall. Basu Aadhaar scheme is being developed to create an organized collection of information about it. The objective of this project is to collect biometric identification of animals with the help of modern technology.
  • Milk production in India has increased by 44 percent since 2014. Accordingly, milk production has increased to 21 crore tonnes from 14.6 crore tonnes in 2014.
  • With the theme 'Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood', the four-day World Dairy Summit 2022 of the International Dairy Federation will be held from 12th to 15th September, bringing together industry leaders, experts, farmers and policy makers from the global and Indian dairy sector.
  • Around 1500 delegates from 50 countries are expected to participate. Such a summit was held in India in 1974, half a century ago.
  • The Indian dairy industry is unique. Because it is based on cooperatives that empower small and medium dairy farmers, especially women. Driven by the Prime Minister's vision, milk production has increased by over 44 percent in the last eight years due to various measures taken by the government to promote the dairy sector.
  • Accounting for 23 percent of global milk production, the Indian dairy industry is a success story with an annual production of 210 million tonnes. Empowering more than eight crore farmers in India, this summit will inform. The summit will help Indian dairy farmers learn about global best practices.
