22nd Commonwealth Games - Day 4 Results
- The 22nd Commonwealth Games in which 72 countries are participating is being held in Birmingham, England. In the women's judo 48 kg category, India's Sushila Devi Ligmapam faced South Africa's Michaela Whitebooi in the final. He missed out on a chance to win a gold medal as he fell behind in the competition and won a silver medal.
- Likewise, India's Vijaykumar Yadav bagged the bronze medal in the men's 66 kg judo category. In the weightlifting event, India's Harjinder Kaur won the bronze medal in the 71 kg category. He lifted a total of 212 kg including 93 kg in snatch and 119 kg in clean & jerk.
- Similarly, in the badminton mixed category, the Indian team defeated Singapore 3-0 and entered the finals. With this the silver medal is assured for India. In men's table tennis, India beat Nigeria 3-nil to advance to the final.
- Yesterday, India bagged one medal in weightlifting and two in judo. With this, India is 6th in the list with 9 medals including 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze. Australia tops the list with 30 gold medals.
- 5G spectrum auction started on 26th. In this, 4 companies participated namely Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Adani's Data Networks.
- The Union Information Technology Department said that bids up to Rs 1 lakh 45 thousand crores were asked for on the first day of auction. In this case, the auction was completed on the 7th day yesterday. In this, 5G spectrum license was sold for Rs. 1 lakh 50 thousand 173 crore.
- Reliance Jio bid the highest at Rs 88,078 crore, Bharti Airtel at Rs 43,084 crore and Vodafone at Rs 18,784 crore. Adani has auctioned the lowest amount of 5G spectrum for Rs 212 crore.
- The United Nations Secretary General has appointed Mohan Subramaniam from Tamil Nadu, India as the new peacekeeping force commander for South Sudan. Mohan Subramaniam is currently Commandant of Wellington Military Training College near Coonoor in Nilgiri District.
- According to the Union Finance Ministry, Rs 1,48,995 crore revenue has been generated through GST in the last month of July. This year's GST collection has increased by 28 percent over July last year. This is the second highest monthly revenue since the implementation of GST.
- Of this, Central GST is Rs 25,751 crore, State GST is Rs 32,807 crore, Integrated GST is Rs 79,518 crore and Cess tax is Rs 10,920 crore. This is the 6th time that GST collection has crossed 1.4 lakh. It has crossed Rs 1.4 lakh for the 5th consecutive time since last March.
- GST collection has crossed Rs.1 lakh crore for 13 consecutive months. Maharashtra is at the top with Rs 22,129 crore. Karnataka is 2nd with Rs 9,795 crore, Gujarat is 3rd with 9,183 crore, Tamil Nadu is 4th with 8,449 crore, Uttar Pradesh is 5th with Rs 7,074 crore and Ariana is 6th with Rs 6,791 crore.
- Any foreign airline can provide air services to or from India by signing a Bilateral Air Services Agreement. India has signed this agreement with 116 foreign countries. Similarly, flights can be operated from India to those foreign countries.
- The central government has not allowed foreign passenger flights at airports in small towns. India has signed bilateral air service agreements with countries including Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, China, Syria, UK, USA, Japan, United Arab Emirates.
- Indian Navy ship INS Targash engaged in maritime cooperation exercise with French ship FNS Somme in North Atlantic Ocean on July 29 and 30.
- Participated in joint air exercises with maritime surveillance aircraft Falcon 50. The success of these exercises is indicative of the high level of competence and interoperability between the navies of the two countries.
