British Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigns
- The political crisis for Boris Johnson started after the complaint that party programs were held in the Prime Minister's office in violation of the laws of the Corona era, known as the 'Party Gate' scandal in Britain.
- Although he publicly apologized for breaking the rules and participating in the party, there was opposition within the Conservative Party to his continued tenure. Subsequently, the no-confidence motion brought against him by the ruling party last month failed and his prime ministership was saved. Out of a total of 359 MPs, 211 voted in favor of Johnson.
- In this case, the M.P. who is the subject of the sexual complaint. The issue of Johnson's appointment of Chris Fincher as deputy chief whip of the party despite knowing about it erupted as the next issue.
- Chris Fincher resigned last week after acknowledging the sexual harassment allegations against him. Johnson said that it was wrong to appoint him as Deputy Chief Whip. The Prime Minister's change of position on Chris Fincher's appointment caused discontent within the party.
- Following this, Finance Minister Rishi Sunak, Health Minister Sajid Javid and Education Minister Will Quince resigned one after the other. Johnson replaced Rishi Sunaku as finance minister with former Iraqi refugee affairs minister Nadeem Zahavi.
- However, more than 50 government officials, including 27 Cabinet Ministers, 22 Cabinet Ministers, and Parliamentary Private Secretaries, announced that they would resign. After losing the confidence of the party, Boris Johnson announced his resignation.
- Arms purchased for the Indian Army from abroad, funds required for military equipment, bank guarantees etc. are currently transferred only through public sector banks.
- In this context, the Ministry of Defense has allowed three private sector banks, HDFC, ICICI and Axis, to carry out letter of credit guarantee and direct bank transfers for such purchases. MoUs were signed in this regard.
- Through these banks, business up to Rs 2000 crore is to be done in the first phase. The Ministry of Defense said that the activities of these will be continuously monitored and if necessary, the amount will be increased.
- The European Union for Intelligence (EUI) has recently published the Livelihood Index List 2022. It ranks 173 cities based on their livability or living conditions. The Livelihood Index 2022 has been developed based on the five dimensions of sustainability, health, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.
- Bengaluru is ranked 146th with a score of 54.4 out of 100. The four Indian cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad are ranked 140, 141, 142 and 143 respectively.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated the All India Education Conference for implementation of National Education Policy in Varanasi.
- Uttar Pradesh Governor Mrs. Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Ministers Mr. Dharmendrapradhan, Mrs. Annapoornadevi, Dr. Subhash Sarkar, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Union Ministers, Educationists and other relevant parties were also present in this event.
- The Union Ministry of Education has organized an education conference from July 7 to 9. The conference is also an opportunity for eminent educationists, policymakers and leading educationists to share their experiences and present an action plan for better implementation of the National Education Policy 2020.
- Over 300 Academicians & Heads of Administration from Universities (Central, State, Central and Private) across the country and organized as a part of Capacity Building Program of Nationally Importance Educational Institutions (IIT, IIM, NIT, IISER)
- Various stakeholders will highlight the progress made in implementing the National Education Policy of their respective educational institutions, best strategies, best practices and success stories for its implementation.
- In this three-day education conference, panel discussions were conducted on the 9 aspects identified under the National Education Policy 2020.
