'5G' broadband auction for Rs 1.49 lakh crore

  • Next-generation '5G' technology, broadband license bidding has begun. Bids up to Rs 1.45 lakh crore were sought in four rounds for the day. Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that bids for 1.49 lakh crore rupees have been requested after nine rounds have been completed.
  • In total, the central government plans to raise Rs 4.30 lakh crore by auctioning 72 'GHz' spectrum. Companies including Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio, Sunil Bharti Mittal's Airtel, Kumar Mangalam Birla's Vodafone Idea and Gautam Adani's Adani Data Networks participated. 
  • The central government is going to allocate the bandwidth they have requested to the winning companies in September. When the 5G spectrum comes into use, it is expected to revolutionize the communication industry in India.
  • 'Reliance Jio' Leader Reliance Jio has reportedly bid for 10 MHz license for Rs 80,000 crore. Bharti Airtel invests more than planned and acquires broadband license for Rs 45,000 crore.
  • Vodafone Idea has bid for Rs 18,000 crore. Adani Data Networks has acquired vast bandwidth rights in 20 telecom circles, excluding Delhi and Karnataka, for Rs 900 crore.
  • Through this auction, the central government will get Rs 13,000 crore as an advance in the current financial year. Also, for the next 19 years, the same amount will be available annually.
Psychological Counseling Scheme for Students – Launched by Chief Minister Stalin
  • Tamil Nadu School Education Department is going to provide mental health and health awareness counseling to school students. A special medical team has been set up for this purpose and will go to each school in 805 vehicles to provide psychological counseling to the students.
  • The inaugural function of this project was held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Ashok Nagar, Chennai. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin flagged off the awareness drive. After that he visited the school and interacted with the students.
Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme Fund Allocation
  • On 7.5.2022 in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced, "Students who can study from class 1 to 5 will be provided nutritious snacks in the morning on all school days." In this case, it will work in the Corporation, Municipality, Uraka (Village Panchayat) and hilly areas.
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu has today sanctioned Rs.33.56 crore for the first phase of implementation of the scheme of providing breakfast to 1,14,095 primary school children (class 1 to 5) studying in 1545 secondary schools in the year 2022-2023. Also, the Tamil Nadu government has issued guidelines related to the 'Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme'.
Marina - Kovalam beach renovation - 100 crores allocation of ordinance issued
  • "Development of the basic infrastructure of the beach, provision of facilities for artistic and cultural events is also ensured in the development plan. In the notification issued by the minister in April in the last Legislative Assembly, the 30 km stretch from Marina to Kovalam was proposed in consultation with the State Coastal Zone Management Authority and Environmental Impact Assessment.

Union Cabinet approves additional investment by Bharat Petro Resources, a subsidiary of Bharat Petroleum Corporation, for development of BM-SEAL-11 project in Brazil
  • The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved an additional investment of $1,600 million (approx. Rs. 12,000 crore) by Bharat Petro Resources Company (BPRL), a subsidiary of Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), for the development of the BM-SEAL-11 project in Brazil. has provided
  • Production through the BM-SEAL-11 program is expected to begin in FY 2026-27. It is said to strengthen India's energy security. Indian oil companies can import additional crude oil from Brazil. It is also expected that bilateral relations between the two countries will be further strengthened through this.
Union Cabinet approves Rs 1.64 lakh crore restructuring package for BSNL
  • BSNL plays an important role in expanding telecommunication services in rural areas, indigenous technological development and disaster relief. To make BSNL financially viable, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved BSNL's Rs 1.64 lakh crore restructuring package.
  • BSNL services will be enhanced through restructuring of fresh capital, allocation of spectrum, reduction of its balance sheet and augmentation of Piper network by merger of Bharat Broadband Nigam with BSNL.
Union Cabinet approves Rs 26,316 crore scheme to fully provide 4G mobile service to villages without 4G mobile service
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has approved the plan to fully provide 4G mobile service to villages without 4G mobile service at a cost of Rs.26,316 crore.
  • Through this, 4G mobile service can be provided to 24,680 villages in rural areas. Also, 6,279 villages with only 2G and 3G mobile service facilities will be upgraded to 4G mobile service facilities.
  • Last year, the Center approved a plan to provide 4G mobile services in 7,287 villages in 44 pilot districts across 5 states.
Union Cabinet approves deal to host FIFA Women's Under-17 World Cup 2022 in India
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Mr. Narendra Modi has approved the agreement to host the 2022 FIFA Women's Under-17 World Cup in India. The FIFA U-17 World Cup 2022 will be held in India from October 11 to October 30. 10 crore rupees will be allotted to the All India Football Federation for conducting the tournament.
  • The seventh edition of the biennial Women's Under-17 World Cup will be held in India for the first time. Through this, football competition will become popular in India and youth will also be encouraged to participate in this game.
Union Cabinet approves MoU between National Rural Development Corporation, Panchayat Raj and University of Reading, UK
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has approved the Memorandum of Understanding between National Rural Development Corporation, Panchayat Raj and University of Reading in England.
  • The agreement was signed in March last year. Through this agreement, the benefit of the International Business System Framework for Agriculture, Nutrition and Rural Development has been made available to the National Corporation for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj.
  • National Corporation for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj can collaborate with University of Reading on various research activities in rural development areas like increasing nutrition.
